With the apparent reproduction of other famous and popular firearms by Norinco such as the M14, 1911, CZ's, Sigs and now the M4 what else is on the horizon for Norinco for restricted or non-restricted firearms which will be made available in Canada?

I know I would not mind seeing a 'SCAR' or 'G36' type made available:D. Norinco seems to have the capability given their work with polymers in the '97 but what other obstacles would there be to bringing one of the newer semi-auto rifles to market? (or do the chinese suddenly care about patent infringement?:nest:)

Post up what you would like to see made available in an inexpensive version by Norinco...

If you order 10,000, they can make just about anything, but they will not copy a patented gun, despite what some think.

The other issue is getting them a gun to copy. Not easy.

Do all international patents expire in 20 years or is it a differnt ballgame with guns? I would imagine the G36 would be 20 years old or coming up shortly...

And could norinco manufacture something with the ergronomics of a Mp5 in a restricted only version?

I don't think anything is patented on the G36. You cannot patent a "gun" you can only patent unique designs.

As for a new gun, it would have to be designed first. Since the world is going away from the subgun and the MP5 is generally considered the final art, there is little incentive. They do product a bullpup subgun similar to the T97.

So if there was enough demand then a semi auto g36 run could be done if they could manufacture the polymer body?

Something in a pistol calibre would be nice too though.
Absolutely, but that is a huge amount of work and testing. They may do it anyway in a effort to advance the product line.

How bout a semi auto (only) Ak 47 in 7.62X51??
A MP 5 with the ability to change barrels and bolt heads, say 9mm, 40 S&W & 10mm auto?
An UZI semi only??
A cost effective Rem 700, with the same threads or even just a full length action with or without a trigger.
A cheap lever action carbine based on a winchester 92 or 94 in 357, 38-40, 44-40, 44 spcl, 44 rem mag??
A knock off TRG 42 in 338 LM//
Anything in one of the Allen Mag calibers. Preferably the 7mm AM(7mm/338lapua 44 degree shoulder) or 338 AM(338/408 CT). Those are serious big game rifles(be test firing with a string if it's built there).......

You wanted to know what could be cool, these could be IMO.
