thinking of getting a side by side... any suggestions

Beretta Silverhawk in 20ga is my dream SxS. They are certainly a different gun to shoot, but it's just like anything else, if you like it, you'll shoot it. The more you shoot it, the better you should get.

The Beretta Silverhawk...a dream shared. I just keep thinking of the three other shotguns I could buy for that price, and the dream just gets further away...

Same old question and most of the advise you are getting are the posters preferences.
First decide how much you want to pay. Then look for guns that fit your budget. then try them -- buy the one that feels/fits you best -- that is the gun you will shoot best! I would never buy a shotgun on the net unless I had handled a like gun.
Cheers/luck

As far as SxS's go most of my dreams are in English not Italian. If it was an O/U my second language would be Italian.:)

All the FABARM guns I have seen and handled are excellent. I own 2 btw.

They are amazing value for the $.

Just a shotgun noobs opinion.

I'd love to own a Purdey side by side, but I'll never drop $100K on a single gun. But the $5k for the Silverhawk I could probably apologize enough to at least get off the couch eventually.

A double in 3 1/2 inch, not for me! Waterfowl = semis and maybe pumps. Upland game = doubles in SXS or O/U. Some use longer barreled doubles as a do-it-all gun and are left with something that really isn't that great at anything. Pick a shotgun for whatever you intend it to be it's main purpose.

Baikal is the everyday man's gun. Affordable, shootable, and reliable.

I have a Rossi coachgun, with hammers. It is the one gun I would never sell. If you see one in good condition on the used market buy it. They did make them with longer barrels for hunting. Basic without all the frills, but reliable and well made.
