If your not selling, it doesn't really matter when they were made. The M77 will be easy when you see the tang safety or not. Sounds like you got a couple nice guns, that will do you for anything that walks here. Seeing that you got them for free, you can splurge on some nice glass for them...;)

PAL is on it's way back to me,estimate 3 more days, hence rifles here in 10 days ! Thanks for your concern.
One has 'glass' one doesn't !! That'll be interesting !
So serial numbers won't help identify them ?

I'm in the same boat. I have quite a few firearms already but was wondering about the issue of registering the firearms. They have never been registered and wonder if I will run into any hassles when I do (haven't received them yet). They aren't restricted (just a few rifles and a few shotguns) so I hope there isn't any problems.
Two great calibers Tankman to have inherited. Congratulations!
Be nice to see them when they arrive.

Just did one yesterday. You need to have them "verified" by someone off their list, then you can register them online...

I should be ok,'uncle' had 'em registered,we just got to send death cert.etc.Executer is on it.
Waiting for my PAL,waiting to pick up my Tikka T3 lite in .223 with a Leopuld 3-9-40,my sons Savage Cub .22 with a Bushnell 3-9-32 (rimfire)both on lay away (with $650.00 deposit) at Lethbridge WSS,waiting to get the P-H and the Ruger...................it just aint funny, and to make matters worse, the bloody land is sold, there goes my private range.

I looked up the year of manufacture of my Ruger off their website. Easy and free. I would like to look up some other guns too but that info has to be paid for or is very hard to get. Its nice to know the age of the gun. The other day I pulled out my 460 and the guy said WOW its brand new! No its an '83 and doesn't go behind the seat:cool:

hi there,
seems i aint getting the ruger now (damn and blast).
p-h is now in my hands,i'll post pics soonest to assist the experts to identify model etc !!
cheers

An educated guess is that it will have a tang safety.
Now, is that good, or not so good? In other words, what changes went with the elimination of the tang safety, and which models, with, or without, are considered the best rifles?

You might have a wait on the registrations as IIRC estates are handled by the provincial firearms office for their approval.

Then again it was about 3 years ago when I had to deal with this myself so things could have changed in that time.

I had a 4 month wait.
