Mr Skullboy
and Mr Hungry
and Mr LAZ,
all have BTDT with the M14 rifles,
and we all seem to be saying similar things. ...
" KISS ....
think first,
spend money for lots of practice ammo,
SHOOT THE DAMN THING FOR GAWD'S SAKE,
then think again."
and only then,
spend money on LCF.
BUT,
judging from the Wetcoast M14 seminars ...
YOU WON'T LISTEN!
Last time around at one of these seminars,
I asked who had actually shot their 14s before coming to the seminar. The majority [ and it was a BIG majority ] had not even shot their 14s at all yet, and were already planning to spend $$$ [ sometimes BIG $$$ ] to tart them up with LCF, BEFORE even shooting them.
LCF is for sissies with lots of money and no brains ...
and if you qualify,
I have an AKM Camo Chop mod stock with your name on it.
IMHO,
the AKM CHOP MOD SHORTY balances better than the TROY or the SAGE ...
BUT IT STILL AIN'T A CQB WINNER!
YOU CAN TAKE A CLYDESDALE TO THE RACETRACK,
YOU CAN PUT HIM ON A DIET,
BUT HE STILL WILL NOT BE A THOUROUGHBRED!
but of course,
YPMMV!
Like Skullboy says,
plan your build ...
If anyone was to peek into my "war bag", what he would find is a shorty Norc M14, with iron sights, a Dlask 3 port compensator, in a USGI fiberglass stock, with my side folder modification.
BTDT with the JAE, the Macmillan Hbar M1A Supermatch, the AKM, the AKM Chopmod....
and in the end,
the KISS shorty M14 with a side folder is still my favorite.
At least until something better comes along.
