So 9mm Suppository inspired me to pull out my P-38's and have a look at them. Pics in the next day or two I hope. A byf 43, byf 44, ac 43 and one that has gone to hell and back that i need to figure out who/when it was made.
interesting thing about the byf 43. I was taking the grips off and they were sticking a bit. Figuring 20-60 years of grease/grime etc were holding them in place. Gently pried off one grip and then i notice something that is off white on the back strap of the pistol. My thinking is that it was a piece of paper that was placed there to tighten up the grips and reduce the play. Well it so happens its the green slip! From 1977. Issued in Bathurst, NB. it went from one individual to another and both had the same surname. I'm thinking maybe a vet bring back (one can only speculate eh?!). In the box where it says "obtained from" there is a smaller box in the lower right corner that says "No." and typed in there are "NPR". Would that mean No Prior Registration?
Calibre was listed as .38 and maker as Walther.
Anyhow thought it was a neat and interesting bit of trivia.
