I've built a couple of heavy barrel 10/22s over the years and just ended up selling them because they were too heavy and unbalanced to do anything except plunk them on a bench and shoot groups. Even after spending upwards of $1K on top of the base gun, they still wouldn't shoot any better than my CZ452 with a trigger job. I didn't own one for a number of years, and recently picked up a 10/22 Deluxe that had a GM 20" sporter barrel on it. Installed some VQ trigger parts, a compact scope in some Talley LW mounts, and now I actually have a 10/22 that shoots well enough and isn't a pig to carry. May not be tacticool, but is does everything that I need a .22 semi to do. YMMV.
