see above. Im getting yes and no from people and I just want to know the actual answer. I know I cant shoot it, I just want to know if I can buy it.

If you already have the RPAL - yes, but it won't be transfered and given to you till you get ATT; and to get ATT you need to be either a range member or in some cases indicate which one you are to join.
Put a deposit down (if you found the gun you want), get range membership, apply for LTATT, pay the rest and take it home.

Depending on your province, of cause........

I would say yes you can seeing as I don't belong to a Club and I've got 3 restricted and a fourth on the way.

Norinco Ar 15 carbine
Norconia 1911a1 Nickel Plated
Ruger P89 stainless
Beretta 92fs Inox (pending)

And apparently I live in the strictest province (besides Quebec) Ontario. I didn't apply for a LATT either. They were all delivered in the mail. Are you buying locally or online?

It does vary by province.. most are saying that;
Since you can't shoot restricteds other then at an approved range
they you need to have access to an approved range before you can acquire the firearm.. there are ways to have access.. 1 is to belong to a club.. the other is to belong to an organization like IPSC where you would get invitations to compete...

You can buy it you may not be able to take possession of it...

YES..you can. I bought several pistols before joining my range. I knew the range I was going to join, and stated them as my club for future target shooting. Of course I could not shoot my new guns without joining them and getting the range att. By the way, I am in Bantario.

you can have collector statis . but they get checked im told . so no too club . but why would you buy somthing you cant shoot . like buying a icecream cone too watch it melt

Maybe someone is already experienced with handguns (ei military or LE) and simply wants to buy one for home defence.

Or maybe someone just doesn't give a rats ass what the CFO thinks and will shoot it in the bushes.

Either way, there are plenty of reasons why someone doesn't want to join a range.

Yes, technically the so call RPAL holders that are classified as "collectors" can buy restricted stuff and obtain a short term ATT to get them home, I don't see why you can't just say you change your mind about how you plan to use your restricted stuff.

however you are pretty much stuck with standing in front the mirrior posing in your underwear while holding your expensive restricted guns. :D

And none of those a legal reasons in Canada to get a handgun so unless you are a collector or a target shooter or happen to have one of ATC's you won't get it based on the above..

Yea, but saying you are a target shooter is enough to get you a handgun at least in Ontario. It doesn't mean one might not have other hidden reasons (god forbid home defence) for obtaining one.

Unless things have changed no it won't... Used to be that without a club ATT you weren't a target shooter..
