200 yard 5 shot group. Shot in windy conditions by a competitor during the Canadian Benchrest nationals in Regina . Truly amazing marksmanship.

That is awesome, what caliber is that?

6ppc benchrest rifle. something sorta like this one as an example.
I didn't shoot the group.

When you shoot benchrest, 80 to 90 % of your success is due to reading the wind conditions.

My ol' hickory stalked .22 shoots that good in a hurricane. Lights match heads at 100yds with open sights too.:D

I bet a fella could make good money selling picture frames for targets that size at some matches.....

Wow, truly skilled! How many rounds did you send downrange before you got that good?:D
I believe that was Wayne Miller from Leader Sask who shot that one and if I am not mistaken he has been shooting benchrest for over 30 years. He is a top notch competitor and one of the nicest guys you will ever run across at a match. He loaned me a brand new Seb rest when I was having trouble with my Farley.

There was

mention of how many rounds downrange to shoot that small group. I will tell you many.

Screamers like that do not come very often. It takes the king of calibers in a WELL TUNED 6PPC and the ability to read the wind conditions.

We were talking about it this past weekend how people think once they get the gun it comes easy. Ha, far from it. Consistency, patience, and self discipline help in shooting well. Doping the wind is the hardest part. It does not take missing a condition by a lot to mess a great group up.

We here all the time about a bunch of old guys sitting at a bench shooting tiny groups. Well I dare many to try it. IUt is what keeps us going from match to match. Trying to beat our last outing.

Maybe a stupid question but in these bench rest competition should they hit the bullseye? Or is this target really small? But yes thats impressive.

The shoot for group only. It does not matter where on the target it lands.

If they were shooting for score then they would want to hit bull and it would be on a different target.

This is a group shoot. The object is to shoot the smallest group size. The bullseye and black rectangle are merely there to provide aiming points. A lot of competitors will adjust the scope so the fall of the bullet is outside the bullseye, so as to avoid shooting out the aiming point.

theres no stupid ??.
This was a group shoot, as long as you are on the scoring target
it counts
That been said there is shoot called a score were you shoot at five
bullseyes. One bullet in each target, the dot is worth 11 points.

The group

can form anywhere inside of the outer square. If a shot falls outside of the square you are penalized 1" for 100 yards and 2" for 200 yards.

With the lower sighter target it does not matter if bullets are outside the border. We try not to have them go outside. If that happens you are shooting up the backer which we do not want to do. It takes time and a lot of effort to make those moving backers so shooting them up is what WE DO NOT want.

Dr the center of a score target is scored as an X if you hit it. Not 11 points. The maximum score on a score target is 50-5x for centerfire. If you hit the ten ring you get a 10 if you hit the X inside the 10 ring you get a 10X.
