Gun Deal problem

This happened to me, the seller doesn't have a phone. I bought the rifle in May I think it was, and I'm still waiting. He was supposed to call in in that night. anyway I started the transfer. The only number I got from him was one of his buddies so I kept leaving messages. I phoned the CFC and asked what can I do? They said they were going to send him a letter. A week later I get an e-mail asking for my info...let's get this done. That was two weeks ago, I still haven't got a green letter...still being patient...hoping it will come soon.:bsFlag:

Not in .338WM, but I have seen a couple in .338-06 though...:)

Phone the CFC back and see if he has completed the transfer yet...
 
He can only initiate the transfer if he has the information from the registration form. I really don't like buying a rifle unless it comes with a copy of the registration slip. On two occasions, I've bought rifles that were "supposedly unregistered" but they were. In one case an ignorant wife sold it unbeknownst to the husband and handed me a line of being a widow. On another occasion I picked up a No5 barreled receiver at a gunshow with the idea of rebuilding it (I should have looked closely at the parts kit I bought to complete it in Kamloops, they had the matching numbers to the receiver). Both rifles they were registered. On the first one, the woman at the CFC graciously called the owner and explained the situation. He allowed the transfer to be done. His wife got a slap on the wrist. The second rifle was actually registered to a friend, it had been stolen, with a hand tooled leather scabbard and broken up for parts. He didn't want it back so the transfer went through. Again, because of a decent LEO in my home town getting in touch with the owner before getting nasty. I owe him one. The registrar at the CFC was insisting on handing the rifle over to the crown, without even contacting the original owner.

MTM it could possibly just be that the owner is going through a bad time or maybe he just can't handle going through the hoops. I've run into several people like that. If you have the relavent information and proof of purchase, such as a cancelled cheque or money order receipt, go for it.
 
Another update, he sent a PM last week saying he'd get it done within hours if I sent my lisc. # again. I sent it for the third time. Nothing yet. I noticed he's put another gun up on the EE yesterday. Now I'm getting a little pissed. I'll phone the CFC on Monday.

1. contact moderator and see if he can get a time out
2. I will buy the gun and not pay until you are done and then change my mind

sounds like a scammer to me.
I would have the RCMP get involved through the CFC.
enough is enough of this guy,s BS in my opinion.
Fraud comes to mind (involving firearms)
 
Guys there are a lot of things that come into play here. He may have sold it for a freind who screwed him around, it may be from an estate sale thats gone sideways. Either way he sould have done his homework, if he'd just let me know what's up we could figure something out. Last thing I want to do is make waves for anyone with the CFC but I think its time to find out what's going on.
