Does anybody out there have a customized P-17 ? I would like to see them for some ideas for my own build. Not for copying, but to get me pointed in the right direction. I am really interested in turning mine into something nice. Have some ideas but would like to see what other people have done with theirs. Pictures please ! !:canadaFlag:

"W" series serial number, 1 in 14 twist Shultz and Larsen bbl, 308Win, Richards Microfit Prone Culbertson stock, in Black Widow laminate.

I have 308Norma and a 358Norma,both are fairly custom. They have to be,just to getting rid of the ears. The dog's leg can have the corners rounded and shaped, leave it alone at the root, that's your safety lug.The bottom metal can be flattened and the box shortened. It cuts down on the big billboard sides. Though, it's never going to be sleek. The trigger guard can be)( and ovaled, it comes out good looking. The short steep tang works for my 9 1/2 hands, but it does take away from the looks. Monte Carlo, fancy wood, rosewood endcaps, engine turning and fleur-de-lis checkering seem to look right on these big actions.

That's some seriously tight shootin there, Lefty. Good job !
I took mine out a week ago and blew up some 4 liter milk jugs at 100 yds , off hand shooting. I will be going to the range on Wed , this week and doing a little target work. I will post pics of said rifle and shooting after I get home.

Barrel was made by Bevan King, 25.5" with a barrel band.

Stock and finish work was done by Bill's Gunsmithing in Burns Lake BC.

I really liked it and found that the recoil was really tolerated.

Load was 140 grains of IMR 7878 with a 525 grn bullet.

Sounds like some serious power ! ! I will be posting pics of mine as it is now , along with range results, in a few hours today. I have some things to do yet and a wee sprog to get into nap zone. Did your conversion cost a bit or was it reasonably doable. I am thinking of rebarrelling mine to a big one also , Maybe .404 Jeffery , .405 Win , .416 Taylor , et all.:canadaFlag:

Cole, I read on Accuratereloading that he had passed on. I haven't actually verified this (tough to call an old acquaintance and say "you dead yet?"). He was a very nice man, good to talk with, and a wealth of knowledge about rifles in general, and 'smithing and P14/M17's in particular. I have pics somewhere of one that he and Darcy Echols (another nice guy) collaborated on, beautiful rifle. - dan

I am trying to get the pics up of my 17 and targets but photobucket is being a bit of a nuisance. Please bear with me.
Ok, here we go, I hope this works . If it doesn't , please , somebody send me a nasty message telling me so.

Things are good!!

Don't know how it works for you but I set up a photo bucket a/c and then followed their instructions on how to upload a photo. You have to have the photos on your computor first ofcourse. Next, just open your photo bucket a/c, don't forget your password!! and then move your cursor over the photo you want to post. This brings up a drop down list, move the cursor down to the line marked 'img' and click on it. This highlights the code for the picture. Move the cursor over to the highlighted part, right click, and then click on 'copy'.
To post the picture, right click in the message box, click paste and VOLIA!!!
