I was just looking through some old milsurp stuff and I got thinking. Do you guys think that people would buy a semi-auto reproduction of the Browning BAR (as it looked in WW2) if they made it?

I personally really like how that rifle looks and I would put my brother up for sale to buy one.

If you want a BAR for looks, O.K. For shooting, the mass of the open bolt slamming shut fouls up semi-auto. that said, they were a wonderfully reliable weapon.

I wouldn't, because I have an Inglis Mk1m Bren with a go-fast switch.:D\

Just a bit more. Having watched videos of folks shooting BAR's I noticed the maracca effect. ie; head shaking like a marraca from the recoil:eek:

Now the Bren just shimmies gently back and forth because of the spring loaded buttplate. Plus you have another 10 rounds to play with.:D

No, I wouldn't. Yes, some people would - probably not enough to manufacture in quantity on spec, more likely if they put down a deposit with order. (Do you really think you'd get that much for your brother?)

"...if they made it?..." Ohio Ordnance makes 'em. Not a CA either. New cast receivers. $3500US with a bakelite stock. $3800US with a walnut stock. No mention of foreign sales, but I doubt it. They sell real MG's too. They want $950US for a BNIB Vostok .22 target pistol. Geezuz! Traded a Ruger Mk I HB for the one I had, long ago.
You really want a 20 pound 5 shot rifle?

How many ways can I say 'f**k yes'?

Merllin, when you get yours and I get mine, let's meet up somewhere for a BAR date.

I would sell all of my blood for one. Err wait a minute..
I would buy one for sure though!!

When you hold one they feel strange because where you grip the gun is really thick. If you can't hold a whopper you might not like how it feels.:p

Hahaha... Im game for that.

The BAR is my dream gun. I know everyone wants something different, but that like 9 foot long piece of rifle is definitely one I want to own.

Pump some irons before getting a BAR. That chuck of 100% solid steel is heavy.
