Polymers are good. I have no problem with them myself when used in proper context and with a solid engineering plan.
yeah, they have come a long way from the cheap flimsy plastic parts of yesteryear.
Glass fibre, carbone fibre, or Kevlar increasing tensile strength, & the formulations giving it extreme impact resistance and the ability to not dent.
Plastics can easily compete with aluminum strength-wise, and have the added bonus of not suffering from metal fatigue. The only down side right now is heat, but seeing what the G36 can do.... they are close I tell ya
