HK USC/UMP prohibited?

Polymers are good. I have no problem with them myself when used in proper context and with a solid engineering plan.

yeah, they have come a long way from the cheap flimsy plastic parts of yesteryear.

Glass fibre, carbone fibre, or Kevlar increasing tensile strength, & the formulations giving it extreme impact resistance and the ability to not dent.

Plastics can easily compete with aluminum strength-wise, and have the added bonus of not suffering from metal fatigue. The only down side right now is heat, but seeing what the G36 can do.... they are close I tell ya :D

The conversion will be complete once I figure out who I can get to cut the ventilation holes. I have the dimentions around somewhere, I just havn't found the time to locate a gunsmith or something.

A friend's conversion...

If I am remembering correctly, it is an HDPS conversion.

The biggest giveaway aside from markings that you cannot always see in photos is the absence of molding for locking the stock open on the receiver behind the ejection port on the right hand side, and no sling attachment molding on the rear of the receiver on the left.

His consists of modified lower using UMP double stack magazines.

For about $3500, it was a very nice alternative.

IMO, the worst conversions to emerge use M1A 'greasegun' .45 magazines. While I understand why someone may want to reuse older, cheaply available magazines the whole thing looked...

unnatural.

Id really like to get the UMP lower, but they are next to impossible to find these days....

Then again, with the 5-round limit, it makes no difference anyways (functionally) so I guess im happy to stick with the USC mags/lower, especially since mine is probably under 2500 bucks for total mony paid so far.

Well. No difference prior to the zombie outbreak anyway.

Because there are next to none here, and there will never be any more.

So you have one or you don't.

FWIW, there aren't that many in the US either. As I understand $1500 is LE pricing. I posted pics of mine on Sigforum (A US forum), and the responses ranged from "I hate you a bit" to "God I want one of those so badly" Some of these guys already own MP5s.

Just not that common a gun.

But if you are a guy who buys guns instead of quads, as big price units go its not that bad.

If you want to make a USC into a clone, it has been done and done well by a few guys in Canada at about $3500.00. I compared one side by side with my genuine gun about 2 years ago. The results were quite nice.

First hello all from a stateside newbie....great forum you have.

The UMP and the USC are quite plentiful here in the states, it is just that civilians can't have a genuine UMP regardless of whether it is semi-auto only. We have to jump through the hoops of tracking down parts, stock block's, ATF permits etc to make our USC's closer. So, Sprint your fine example is the genuine article and is super desirable by us.

The first gray version of the USC imported to the states goes for about $1100-$1200 these days and the latest black imports are in the $1500 range.

It is a super fun gun. I like it so much I have 3, calibers 9mm, 40SW, and .45 and enjoy it enough that I had one's barrel ported and suppressed ala-MP5SD. For plinking I highly recommend it.

Great second post.

Welcome to CGN.

The best thing about Sprint's pics is that this particular gun should be showing up at my place today. I picked it up off of Gary last week. For some reason, I have recently developed an excessive saliva problem...should clear up after I get back from the post office.
