Norinco M4 CQ5.56 Reliability - You Decide

I just looked at one of these today. It's no ABCD but for $670 I don't see how anyone could complain as long as it goes bang every time. Great entry AR.

.....and probably the cheapest way to get a short barreled upper/FA BCG/threaded flash hider+bayonet lug, and one of the best manuals written :D

I've got about 350 rounds through mine and no issues at all. I mounted a 1-4x optic and got out to the range and was pleasantly surprised with my groups. PMC 55gr came in around the 2-2.5 inch mark, Handload #1 was about 2 inches, and handload #2 gave me about 1.5 inches or better (55 gr 5-shot groups at 100 yds). I'll have to load up some heavier bullets and see how they do.

Norinco M4 / CQB

I purchased one of these earlier this year and was real happy...but after approx 200 rounds, it's all gone pear shaped! It no longer cycles! Given me this problem last few times at the range. It has been cleaned so well, yet it may fully cycle for 5-10 rnds, then it screws up again! Tried a variety of ammo, including military surplus, PMC and Remington, with 45gr and 55gr. All of these have worked previously, but now I have the problem with all of these. I'm guessing I have a problem with the gas parts? Can anyone advise me please? And where is the best place (and best brand) for replacement parts? I am very disappointed with the Norinco M4.

I know they came pretty stiff when I got mine..took it apart (Bolt Assy) & gave it a fine light coat of oil..AR's aren't meant to be super clean & left oiless but it depends on the environment.

Now for your AR problem it sounds like a gas issue, likely an easy fix with by competent armourer

160 rounds threw mine today without a hiccup

Nice little 10 round group at 50M - around 2" with open sights

It asked me for a nice little paint job.....so I gave it one.

What's this now... overclean is bad? No one DESIGNS their guns to run BETTER dirty, they design them to run well even IF dirty.

Try to avoid the 45 grain stuff, a lot of it isn't crimped for use in semi-auto rifles, and the bullet is too light to properly stabilize in an AR (much of the time). Also given that the Norc is running a carbine buffer and F/A BCG, it may not have the required energy to fully cycle the rifle. Oh yes, and run it damp, except for the buffer - don't lube the buffer!
