I had scope covers (Bushwackers) on one of my deer rifles for a season or two, but I took them off because they kept flipping open on me. I'm thinking of buying Blizzard covers now. Who likes flip-up covers? Who thinks they are a pain in the a$$? Why?

(Note: None of my lenses have Rain Guard or similar factory coatings. However I have been applying RainX before going out, with positive results. I just haven't had a chance yet to field test the RainX under really messy conditions.)

I use the regular Butler Creek ones and I've never had a problem with them opening up by accident on me. I think they work great and use them on all of my hunting rifles.

If you have low clearance from your objective bell to your barrel and you also have an adjustable objective on the objective lens end you might run into issues with the little nub things used to open it. I have that problem on my Banner 4-12AO, I just have to flip it open to adjust and then adjust it back so I can close it.

The only problem I have had with them is trying to find both pieces, I got the objective one but cannot find the eye piece one in town. No way I am paying 20 bucks for shipping on it either. Hopefully my friend remembered and found one in the states :)

Blizzards suck. Butler Creek are pretty good. the screw in Leupold ones are great if you have a newer model Leupold scope.

I believe Leupold will thread their older scopes for the Lumina stuff..... I think I heard that some place.

The Leupold scope caps are very nice, they are the nicest option in my books. I use them, only on the objective lenses though. The back one doesn't work well on LH bolt actions. And, the way I hunt, it's mostly the objective that needs covering anyways.

i have a both the red and yellow button flip open scope covers, the red is a tighter fit (gotta measure your stuff before you buy) while the yellow one is made of a more flexible rubber (allows you to eyeball which one you need) and seems easier to snap open accidentaly but it doesnt really matter to me as im stretching the rubber to the max and the created tension keeps it from opping open.

I wouldnt buy the yellow button one otherwise

I had a couple of sets of Leupold scope covers.

Quality and engineering wise they embarrass the Butler Creek jobbies. The only problem with them is under heavy recoil the fairly sharp cap drops into perfect position to stick straight out...Sooner or later you can expect a vicious slit above your eye....Just ask me.

In the middle of shooting our Bison my buddies wife received a nice gash in the forehead from her Leupold covers. She shoots a 300win.
Stiffer springs would fix the issue on these otherwise excellent scope covers.

The butler Creek caps will also lightly tap your forehead at 375 Ultra recoil levels and higher. They have never cut me though....Even at much higher recoil levels.

Butler Creek is my current "go to" scope cover......Hard to beat for the function as well as for the money.

Never tried the Blizzards...What is so bad about them?
