Looking to buy a 10 or 12 inch threaded barrel for my 10/22 custom build. Where can i find one of these things ? Fab has an 8.5 which is too short i think. Is there a law against barrel size ?

As long as it is over the magical size limit (26 inches), the one that says whether or not a gun is more dangerous or not cause it is 1 inch too short.

If the stock is collapsed and less than 26 inches then it is a restricted, therefore more eviler than when it is fully extended. That is why the klinker plinker kits with short barrelled folding stocks have their stocks welded so it cannot be folded and never shorter than 26 inches.

So in other words, a gun that cannot easily be made less than 26 inches and has a factory barrel are fine. A gun that is less and with a cut barrel is a baby killer.

Bits of Pieces out in B.C. will make you a custom barrel in 11.5".

I have one in the mail (somewhere, CP seems to have lost it).

I have the tacsol barrel on my other 10/22. Its VERY overspec, which means it is tighter than a nun's... well... you know.

You will not get a factory barrel out of the US that is shorter than 16". Under US law a rifle with a barrel less than 16" makes it a SBR (short barrelled rifle). To make or own a SBR, you need a Class II permit from BTAF, which costs $200 every time you transfer the firearm. This is almost identical to permits needed for full auto in the US.

No US law doesnt make the barrel an SBR, it makes it an SBR if its added to a gun while in the USA. The barrels themselves can be bought and sold in the USA without any paperwork.

They just can't be exported for use on a rifle.

Isn't Fabsports expecting a bunch of barrel in various lenght? I might have to give him a call...

** Edit **

just got off the phone with Farbice. Seems like 12", 16" and 20" are on the way... standard bull, fluted bull and 'regular' profile...

Hahaha yeaa i found that out today too. Didnt want to say anything to increase my chances of actually getting one. Things seem like they go fast ! 12 inch would be sweet for my build but i dono how bad it will effect accuracy. Might have to go with the 16.
