good .223/M16 assult rifle thats NOT RESTRICTED!!!

You missed KAC and Noveske ARs

Not exactly no.

KAC - hyper-expensive Bushmasters.
Noveske - OPERATOR-grade gear for OPERATORS so they can OPEERATE while OPERATING. Plus the embrassing names (Crusader, Leonidas, Cleopratra and other bastardized figures from Greek mythology).

Just one recomendation, when you calculate how much it will cost you to get your rifle, include at least 4 extra mags and 500+ rounds of ammunition, then come to the Borden CQB clinics :D

Was anyone other then SOCOM bringing in the Noveske have they had any in a while??

KAC -- well they are only recently coming in and they are a little in the high priced side of things.. You may get what you pay for but unless you are working where you need one of these things you may not need one of these...

So if I buy a lower or upper.....which one do register? or both? the then them that i've built one rifle outta em or what?

The lower is the firearm. That's what gets registered. and if there is no upper it gets registered as a receiver only. When you add the upper you then have to change the regiostration status with the CFC. Not sure if you need a verifier or not to change the status.

AR uppers are uncontrolled items - so far

Also sorry to anyone who was offended by this thread....I didn't mean it to be and I know and always have that real assult rifles are not allowed in Canada I was just generalizing when I used it. And when wanting one thats unrestricted is because I figured it'd save some hassle.....anyways I apologize.

ps. to the many people who have said to do so I now use the search tool:p

"Non-Restricted Military Service Style Rifle" would had been a better name for it, but most of the un-restricted threads are under a different section all together, so even if you do a search under this section, you won't find it here.

So far all the AR manufacturer that has been listed, barely covers half the total number of manufacturers out there, but no matter who makes it they are all classified as "restricted", kind of like restricted by association.

however to get back to your question of non-restricted military service style rifle, you can also look at the HK SL8 and RA XCR however they are all well over $2000 to start.

seriously ask yourself what you are going to use it for, do you want to go hunting? .223 is only good for varmints and rodents, so even a .22 Magnum would do the job, if you just to want to run some drills or taking a courses at the range, take part in a service rifle match or 3 gun comp and pose infront of the mirror a look cool (always my persoanl fav.) go with an AR (get a cheap one) will be more than you will ever need.

wtf is an "assault" rifle? If I hit someone with a shovel does that make it an "assault" shovel?

I butt-stroked a guy with a C7.. that was defiantly a "Assault" Rifle. Maybe a Grievous Bodily Harm Rifle, not sure.

.. And since this is Canada anything else that remotely resembles or uses or can use a part of that particular rifle is now restricted... very restricted. I don't make the rules..

When I said that I was reffering to what the Canadian gov calls an "assult rifle". meaning if it looks "scary", selective fire switch, high-cap mags, adjustable stock, used in our miltary, bayonet lugs or 100's of other stupid things......I really did think trying to say sorry for a stupid post would result in more upset people.....don't be mad at me, be mad at the people who tell you you can't have these things

Don't take it to seriously, people on this board will jump on you for a number of reasons. Just wait till you call a gun a weapon and see how many people chime in.

IN the future try not to use liberal propaganda when posting. Outside of that, hope you got an answer to your main question. :)

go flip through magazines from the 80's - they actually call a spade a spade, ie assault rifles!!!

People started changing the term because the media caught on to it. Gun dealers/Magazines used the term "assault rifles" and then they flip flopped and disowned the same term. Gee, they actually used to produce magazines called "assault weapons"!

I am sub-tilting the forum this way to pay tribute to the 80's!

In a few years, we all have to call guns "high speed projectile accelerators".
