Type 97 Classification Issues - PART TWO

I deal with two RCMP fellows regularly, and they do shoot with common folk. One older, one younger than me. Both great guys with common sense. There is hope.

I can't name a single RCMP member who, while on his own time, has ever shot with any "civilians" on any range that I was ever on.

OPP, yes. HPD, yes. DFO, yes. DND, yes. RCMP, no.

Maybe you're talking about some law-enforcement-only events, somewhere.

I could name dozens of serving Members that I have shot "civilian" matches with over the past 10 years. I won't name them here on a public forum... but it's a fact. Without naming names, the Armourer for the RCMP at Depot shot civilian matches for years prior to his retirement and he continues to compete and attend events... he's still an active shooter at GPSA in Regina. So are a number of other DEPOT members (both active and retired). There are also a number that I know personally here in Ontario and out west (BC).

You have no idea what your talking about. Not only have I shot with off duty RCMP and Regina City Police but I can also name a guy that has put his money down for a type 97 and is even a member of this board. You are totally clueless. I have also had the priviledge of shooting at the RCMP range and Regina City Police ranges as a guest using their firearms.

There isn't some RCMP constable or corporal sitting behind a desk classifying firearms here, there is some politician wearing a white shirt with CMP onthe sleeve making these calls. This is political not personal and I would make a guess that most police officers that are not interested in a political career would agree with us that the classification issue is BS.

Sure there is, I could even tell you his name.

Paul... he's saying that the "guy" making the classification calls isn't sitting in Regina (and I'd have to agree with him on that :)). The people making those calls are sitting in Ottawa. There are a couple of them and they do have names but they themselves are simply following "orders" in many cases and those orders are VERY POLITICAL.

Those of you who think the Conservatives are your friends are very naive... politicians will tell you what you want to hear so they can get elected and get re-elected. They will say anything in order to do that. Don't believe a word they say.

If a politician wants your vote them make them support your causes... talk is cheap... actions speak louder than words. Make them actually do something and get some results. The politicians may stand there and tell you they support your rights and they believe in your concerns over the firearms laws... but the reality is that under their watch the system that enforces our firearms laws has been continually and consistently eroding your rights by "interpreting" the firearms laws in the most narrow of ways and using the legal system as 'legal blackmail' to stop most challenges.

Over the past year those in the RCMP, CFC, CBSA, etc. who stood in the way have been either moved aside or removed entirely... replaced by staff that will follow orders and who are NOT "gun people" (I've had that exact phrase quoted to me by insiders).

MP hO!!

Well I'm planning on talking to my MP here some time soon but I want to make sure I know what I'm talking about.

Firearm: Norinco Type 97
Importer: Canada Ammo
Shipment has been held since: When?
Shipment is being held by: What agency (full name not just initials)

Please folks fill me in on the last 2 items and pass on any other info you feel is pertinent. Thanks!

Curiously, does Canada Ammo have an American office? That is what it is listing as the registrar for the .com.

I just want to say that I'm from Quebec, I bought a Type-97 and many of my friends on the shooting range ask me frequently what is happening with that situation. Are we many, from Quebec, on this site? I always talk about CGN but I don't know what is the representation from Quebec.

As I wrote to Mark, I will let my deposit and wait till there is not hope.

Despite our province's politicians, yes, there are a lot of firearm owners in Quebec. Most of us on CGN are the bilingual and anglophone Quebecers.

I have faith that the Type-97 will be available to the public eventually.

Just found this picture, Chinese(the one with T95) & Mongolian soldiers.
