Type 97 Classification Issues - PART TWO

I still wish Peter van loan wasn't a useless turd. I bet he hasn't done s**t, and probably heeds the advice of RCMP a division. This is just the tip of the iceberg. if they can do this to one gun, what makes any other semi safe?

Nothing.

Maybe our outrage, carefully communicated can help, but we need to win this one.

Lot's of peoples jobs would disappear if they prohibited them all. They obviously don't want bullpups in Canada.

You need the serial number, no?

If you don't have the relevant info, you can't register it. I dunno if canam has the serial #s as they were seized by the cbsa as soon as they landed here. Maybe he does have the #s, from norinco?

You figured this out all by yourself.

I'm sure Canam has the serial numbers of the guns and have applied as they normally do. In either case it is their show.

You think they care about a few hundred jobs?

Ffs banning of semis is in the liberal party's platform. They want them gone!

Don't be a fool and think otherwise.

So why are they doing it with the Type-97's and yet the Tavors are already here and out on the marketplace with narry an eyebrow raised? What was the difference to the RCMP/CBSA?

Maybe they decided enough is enough. Nothing will be decided without action being taken. I see a lot of talk but not a lot of action.

Why can't you get a Utah concealed carry permit anymore? Because the demand made the issue noticeable.(the primary reason) If there were only small numbers involved (as it was before) then it probably would not have become an issue. But with the T-97's low price the demand was their for larger quantities. And this has got people nervous.

They are affordable. That's why.

Hell, they made the HiPoint carbines prohib.

I have to point out it's part of the current RCMP "re-classification" scheme, which is extremely dangerous to firearm owners.

Don't forget T97 HAS BEEN ON MARKET for 3 years. So if T97 is prohibited firearm, then there are many guys are in violence of Criminal Code by holding a FA.

Think about it: what if they decide to re-classify 180b tomorrow? Maybe SIG black/green special after? then all Semis?

Re-classification can only be done through Firearm Act with grandfather status granted. Not by decision of RCMP.

They can all be converted easily and quickly once a person knows what to do. There are books and videos available that give instructions on how to do this. This is why I say that at least all semi autos are prohibited according to the hasslewander ruling.

Once given the instruction, they are no longer a person of reasonable skill. They are a person of greater than reasonable skill. In any event, such a video would describe a method which would violate the 'relatively quickly' part of the test. The relatively quickly has never been found in a case to exceed 15 minutes.

According to my source there is a 30 day window in which to start a court challenge to the prohibited classification. If CanAM did not start a challenge within this time frame then they are out of luck.

The thirty day window only applies to ss. 29, 67 or 72.

Section 29 deals with licenses for shooting ranges, 67 deals with renewal of individual licenses, ATC's and ATT's and 72 with the refusal to issue licenses, ATC's and ATT's to the same.

There is no statutory limitation period in the firearms act for any other challenge.

How does canam register the guns when they don't have them? The cbsa is holding them. This BS is a deliberate railroading scheme involving both the RCMP and the cbsa. It is f**king garbage.

In my opinion, CBSA has behaved unethically at the very least, and quite possibly illegally. They have literally no reason to continue to detain the container, and no legal right to seize it because the contents were fully declared.
