Type 97 Classification Issues - PART TWO

So why are they doing it with the Type-97's and yet the Tavors are already here and out on the marketplace with narry an eyebrow raised? What was the difference to the RCMP/CBSA?

The RCMP firearms lab considers the AR108B2, XCR, SA PE-90, Tavor and any other unrestricted black rifle as a 'loophole' in the law that they seek to close. They have stated as much to the house committee on public safety (they actually besmirched Wolverine supplies by name in doing so).

I was thinking about buying a Type-97, because they are affordable (when compared to other military style rifles), but after all this mess with the RCMP and the CBSA, I'm just going to happily stick with my DA Grizzly Shotgun and pray that it doesn't get reclassified for having a short barrel. I feel sorry for CanAm and those who ordered one, because they have a lot of money invested in this. I hope they get cleared as non-restricted rifles eventually.

sorry

Dont feel sorry for us, but instead get involved as it will affect each and everyone of us with all firearms in the future.

The entrenched Liberals in the DOJ, RCMP & CFOs have been very, very busy over the past couple of years despite the fact that the CPC has had nominal control of the federal government.

It was a mistake transferring the CFC to the RCMP who have always been the arch enemies of private citizen's firearms rights in Canada.......if they (RCMP) had their way every single firearm in private (non military or police) hands would be confiscated.

And the "fun" has just started..........when the Liberals return & the RCMP has political/legislative support from their ideological lords & masters the shyt will really hit the fan for Canadian GUNNUTZ.

When the Liberals get back in power whether it be after the coming election or the following one or the one after that ......one of the first things they'll do (besides going after handguns, semis & military look alikes) is amend the Firearms Act to close the loophole for the short barreled shotguns (Grizzlies, Outlaws Dlasks, etc., etc.).

I can envisage a future minimum barrel length of 18" for any non-restricted firearm......whether from the factory or modified & any long guns that don't conform will be automatically reclassified as restricted, prohibited or outright banned & confiscated.

Where do you get this information? I know first hand that there are members within the ranks of the RCMP that are doing their best to keep shooting sports alive. Many members including high ranked officers participate in shooting sports in an outside of the RCMP and support them wholeheartedly. Do not blame the RCMP for something that is not their fault. Their orders come down from government. It's like blaming the CF for being in Afghanistan when it's the Canadian government that sent them there (Please be advised that I support my brothers in arms and what they are doing).

As for the issue of the type 97 classification, I hope it will not become another firearm that is prohibited because of it's name or how "scary it looks" like the ill fated AKs and it's variants but that is in the past.

Let's look to the future and prevent these things from happening again and put blame where blame is due.

It's not the RCMP's fault that they have arbitrarily reclassified firearms from Restricted to Prohibited (FN-FAL and variants) or Non-restricted to Restricted (Type 97) OR classed as Prohibited a weapon that fires .22LR ammo only, cannot take ANY parts to make it a submachine gun, and only LOOKS like an MP5 (GSG-5 22LR semi-auto)?? Whose fault is it then??

Those high ranking officers you speak of may not be ranked high enough in upper management to make a difference in firearms classification. IMHO the problem with the RCMP is its highest ranked officers in Ottawa, who have become little more than spokespersons for the Liberal Party.

You can start by looking around on this forum. :runaway:

Oh I'm sure they have every intention of retaining the right for themselves & their elite friends like in all the other communist countries.

It appears that many of you just don't get it.

It is really very simple.

THE GOAL: COMPLETE (TOTAL) CIVILIAN DISARMEMENT

THE PLAN:
  • Get rid of guns, one at a time.
    • .25ACP
    • .32
    • 12-*
The you go after anything that looks scary like AR-15's, bullpups... these are an easy sell to the non-firearms owning public.

You must realize that the T-97 is a lot scarier that a Ruger 10/22.

Irregardless of whether or not the T-97 is a poorly converted full-automatic, it is first and foremost a BLACK GUN, a SCARY gun, a MILITARY looking gun, a gun to be used only for massacring high school students and puppies.

Those who are of the opinion of "They'll never come for my Benelli", I have to inform you but YES they will. Your Benelli is just lower on the list of things to prohibit, but it is nonetheless ON THE LIST.

That's interesting...

I can't name a single RCMP member who, while on his own time, has ever shot with any "civilians" on any range that I was ever on.

OPP, yes. HPD, yes. DFO, yes. DND, yes. RCMP, no.

Maybe you're talking about some law-enforcement-only events, somewhere.

I personally know two 'regular' members, as well as two RCMP SWAT/ERT members that shoot with us lowly civilians. I also know of a few more that regularly shoot with good friends of mine.

Stop talking out of your ass
