Please respond in this thread and I'll add your name to the list above.

If you are a current AMA Member, please note that, as it'll save us $100 if we get 5 or more AMA members coming out. (Facility cost will be waived.)

We have space for approximately 20 personnel to attend. As Hungry would say...don't bring one friend, BRING TWO!!!!

As with past clinics, here's some of the subject matter to be covered (a lot of hands on stuff):

1. Gas System Shimming (Shims and tools will be onsite)
2. Gas system unitzing (welder will be onsite)
3. Assembly/disassembly, cleaning, etc
4. Home Parkerizing (we're hoping to have a park bath along for the event, maybe even a sand blaster cabinet....I'll see if it's onsale at PA)
5. Headspace checking (bring 5 fired cases with you if you have 'em!)
6. Scope mounting stuff

+ A WHOLE LOT MORE

Hungry can chime in with more details as to what's covered.

As an aside, YES, I KNOW IT'S THE SAME WEEKEND AS THE TRURO GUNSHOW. There is no other weekend that we can fit this in based on the facility availability, Hungry's availability, and other factors.

If you have any questions, please chime in here.

Thanks for looking,

NavyShooter

(As a followup, if you're coming in from out of town and are looking for a hotel, drop me a PM. I might be able to work a deal out at a local hotel where I know the owner....for those from New Brunswick, it might be a great way to convince wives to let you come down if it turns into a shopping weekend for them...hehehe)

Tools and equipment that will be onsite:

1. 5" vise (NavyShooter)
2. Barrel vise blocks (Hungry)
3. Welding kit (Freedom Ventures)
4. Air compressor (NavyShooter)
5. Sand Blasting cabinet (might have found one...NS)
6. Castle nut pliers (NS) (Hungry also)
7. Gas Cylinder Wrenches and shims (NS)
8. Parkerizing solution and stainless steel tub (NS)
9. RCBS Case Gauge set (.308 Win...NS) (Hungry also)
10. Shim making punch set (Hungry)

Tools and equipment we need folks to bring:

1. 1.75" wrench
2. Stove-top burner for parkerizing (wal-mart sells 'em for $30 for a 2 burner set...we can buy it if we need to)
3. ???

Barney, and all others not from NS making the trek....

Don't forget to pick up ammo from Army/Navy store in Halifax. Still have cheap ammo compared to rest of the country eg 45ACP, 230gr, AE for $22/box.

Life being perfect... it would be nice to have a big ass vise like we had at the Winnipeg clinic this April and we carried out some re-barreling & re-indexing jobs. That was fun!

Barney

I'll lend you my 6" vice - the one I use with my barrel vise. You could take it in your carry on......

I have a 5" bench vise in the back yard shed, not bolted down. I also have a machinist swivel vise (from Costco) that I can bring.

Not sure if they're strong enough, but we can see what we can do. Hopefully it'll be enough to allow indexing and re-barreling.

NS: The 5" vise should do the job! I've got the vise jaw blocks and that's the important part. Got a 1 3/4 big bastard wrench? That will be a good start. I can bring mine, but that really adds to the weight...

Tiriaq... you are kind as always, but let's see what we can scare up on the Halifax end!

Barney

I'm in, from Fredericton. I might be an hour or so late as I want to catch the Truro gun show first thing, can I pay emt? BTW I'm a total m14 newbie...

As a note, once we get 10 people (10+ Hungry) we will be asking for deposits so that Barney can book his flight.

Based on our best guestimate, it'll run about $300-ish for a flight, and we may have another $100 for facility use. So, roughly $400.

If we have 10 people, it'll be $40 a head (approx...real cost will be presented to all and we'll divy it up between us evenly)

If we have 20 people, it could be as little as about $20 a head.

Once we hit the magic "10" people, we'll gather up a $40 deposit from everyone so that Barney can book his flight.

If we get more people, we'll refund money on the day. If it costs more due to flights being more expensive or whatever, we'll make that up on the day.

So. We're currently half-way there.

We need another 5 people to sign up, and we're off to the races with this seminar!

In case anyone is driving in from NB or PEI, the Bible Hill Gun Show is on the same weekend just outside of Truro. If you really want to make it a weekend, come to Halifax for Saturday's festivities and stop in at the gun show on Sunday on your way back home.

Now I just have to get my M14 to the range between now and the 26th. I might be a little embarrassed if I show up with a virgin rifle. It’s out of its cosmoline and all lubed up. The flash suppressor is off and the gas cylinder lock turned around to snug it up. Now to actually shoot that baby. ;)

Hellz yes. I just picked up a Poly a few weeks ago, and I'm in Prospect (10 min from Halifax.)

I'm in!!!

Havn't fired it yet, but I've got a S&J cheek riser and a ARMS scope mount in the mail. Bet Ill be the youngest one there.
