Who has installed a 3 point mount and had good success with their Norinco M14s? By success I mean 100% dependable for many rounds, no loss of zero or wander, no need to rezero constantly. I need some success stories to inspire me to continue.

If its working solid for you, what scope and mount.

I used to have a B-square mount that was terrible and then replaced it with the ARMS 18 mount and its been very solid since it was put on.....

As long as you thread locker everything you should be ok. Mine was all over the place until I put red thread locker on the mount bolts and it has held a zero perfectly for the last couple of months. I just had it out last week and drilled a 15 liter water jug at 300 and then again at 400 yards.

I'd avoid the red locktite. Red is the permanent requires heat and tools to remove stuff. Blue locktite would be more advisable for most as you can remove it later with a vise and a little effort on your tools.

hit and miss. i find more contact points the less chance of zero. the original scope mount 1 point contact screwed in the reciever, low profile. seems to be for me anyway the best option. can take scope off and use iron's. put scope bake on it is almost zero. don't need cheek rest as the mount is a fraction over the rear sight. used all the scope mounts out there. some are great but put the scope up to a very bad level for shooting. after all that the m14 is a btl rifle. not good for scopeing to begin with. hit and miss.

I have the Marstar mount. Been to the range once with and let's just say that I'm still working on it. Locktite is next.

I don't know if you've seen my thread about wandering zero, but that's been my experience so far with a Smith M21 mount and Burris FFII scope. Its a great gun to shoot in that configuration, but it often needs to be rezero'd, and that part bothers me. Other times its erratic, especially as of late.

I've an ARMS18 mount on mine and it's been there for more than 5 years. So far I haven't had to re-zero my scope at all. I used no Locktite either

Smith enterprises mount here. Love it, have to lock-tite it and then shoot it and recheck torques. Once on it works like a hot damn. I liked it better then the arms mount.

cheers,

Yes blue locktite would be better advised for the rest of you I was just done screwing around with it and I'm probably never going to take the mount off as it is the see through design and I can still use the irons with the mount on the rifle.

Considering the excellent service that Korth Agencies gives in servicing Leupolds, its a strong argument for putting one on my M14. Not that I want to make trouble for Leupold, but if I buy something that has a 6 month turnaround on repair, I pretty much end up buying another scope while you wait. Not sure whether I should send my Burris in, or how thoroughly I need to be convinced its the culprit. Scopes are tricky things to check out. You pretty much as a regular guy that can't tear one apart, have to put it on a known accurate rifle and field test it with about 50 bucks worth of ammo to say its solid, unless the problem shows up immediately.
