Help me out guys, I am going to be buying a 1000fps pellet rifle in the next little while but not sure who to go with? I have a few in mind but want to see what you guys say, maybe you will turn me onto a rifle that I have yet to see? :sniper::dancingbanana::ar15::runaway:

Anyone tried those Ruger's they sell at Cabella's? Around $200 for a 1000fps 177. Or would a .22 that runs say 650fps have more smack?

First of all 1000 fps pellet rifles aren't really 1000 fps, not many airguns can do that.

You didn't mention a budget so I'm going to say airforce condor.

Couple months back I almost bought this one. I don't know why I didn't...

Crosman Phantom 1000X Air Rifle by Crosman

.177 1000fps

I don't know man I have an older pump action crossman its gotta be doing at least 999fps. Sure you have to pump it a thousand friggin times, but it will go through a golfers head.

You shouldn't shoot golfers in the head, they'll drive balls at you!!!

Have you heard of the Benjamin Discovery? Benjamin/Sheridan is now part of Crosman, and the Discovery is a really good value in PCP (pre-charged pnuematic) guns.

Nabiul mentioned above about airguns smashing scopes. That is something that springers do regularly, but PCP dont. Springers have a violent lurch forward as they fire, so it gives a "reverse recoil" that most scopes arent designed for.

Anyway, the Disco is a good entry level PCP gun. The gun and special pump (like a bike pump on steriods) comes in at about Can.$400 .

It will do an honest 950 with slightly heavier tahn average pellets. (Shooting light pellets doesnt gain much, so dont bother)

Yes, you don't want a springer at 1000fps advertised or not especially a Phantom. They have lousy seals amoungst other issues. All but the heaviest pellets when pushed subsonic are very unstable/innacurate and the gun becomes very hold sensitive. The Ruger Air Hawk is a chinese gun and as luck would have it decent quality.RWS 34 seals and springs fit it and boost the HP considerably.Jim Maccarri 34 springs or his tarantula after market spring along with a tophat and guide.Discovery would be a great choice as well.............JMO Harold

Funny stuff! All the Chinese made 1000fps rifles are exactly the same!... of which Ruger is one of them.

My dad has the Crosman Phantom and I have the Quest 1000. Both shoot great, but are lousy if you want to put a scope. There's too much play at the hinge, so your better off just using the iron sights.

It's all a question of money really. A better made springer can run you 2 to 4 times the price of the Crosman's (or basically any Chinese made gun). Weihrauch, a German made springer rifle, is obviously of better quality. It's up to you on how much you want to spend.

I have been seeing tons of advertising for the Gamo Whisper air rifles, not sure what they're like or if they are 1000 fps, but maybe a looksee wouldn't hurt.

You would be better off with a RWS34/.177 at 900fps for under $300 from Specialty Shooting Sports in BC. If it's speed that is seducing you or get the .22 at 750 fps for med /sm game.At least it's German and a ton of custom aftermarket parts out there. Also look at The Dianawerk Collective forum for more info and advice....you tend to get what you pay for and Gamo doesn;t stand behind what they sell..........Harold

the model 34 diana on CAF for $240 , in .177 cal, good spot to look for airguns, also D&L , and 3S have good prices on the hw50, diana 34, etc..
If you get a hard hitter, keep the pellet weight up, easy on the gun, and keep velocity in a range for best accuracy ....
