Chased on an ATV?!

Funny tho that he predicts an infraction....

. I belive one could have tactfully made a joke about racial profiling... But I believe the moment has passed

Damnedest thing I ever saw was about 6 years ago we were driving back to camp after a morning out hunting and my buddy was driving. I was still eyeing the cut lines hoping for a late morning spot when a deer runs out of a treeline about 75 yards off the road. I yell "deer" but it's really moving. Literally 3 seconds later a wolf comes flying out of the same treeline in hot pursuit. "Wolf" I holler. Quick as I could get the words out of my mouth they were across the clearing and into the next batch of trees - deer running for it's life and the wolf running for it's lunch. Often wonder how it ended up.

Who knows. Generally a wolf won't run and run and run, they will generally give up after a certain amount of time because they know better than to waste the energy if they know they cant catch the prey. A deer can go pretty far with their adrenaline kicking in. So unless that deer made a serious mistake or if there were more wolves than the one then the deer probably made it.

I remember watching a National Geographic special about the Wolves in BC and it showed how wolves would prefer to ambush and run the prey into a bog, marsh, or deep snow. Or they would try to get part of the pack ahead of the animal to try and surround it and weaken it by bleeding it.

But this was working in a pack compared to a lone wolf.

Not even funny, please delete

Now that's funny.

You know what's wrong with this world? People who are offended by the slightest thing and figure the rest of the world should be offended right along with them. Merry Christmas.

Now, go find that pack of wolves and maybe you can discern the colour of them with a little more accuracy.

maybe he was wearing this shirt

I would have dropped my basket, hiked up my little red dress and run all the way back to Grammas!

Hahaahhahahaha! Remember that old bag got eaten... Probably the same damm wolf.... Got into a bad patch of mushrooms did he? Your buddy, not the wolf...

I've chased wolves on a snowmobile while out in the middle of nowhere doing reclaimation of old leases. Was fun until we had to get off the sleds and walk around. Old frozen muskeg was covered in wolf tracks and we weren't armed, but for a hatchet and a large knife each. I was more afraid leaving, knowing they were at my back.

It's situational. Animals will learn to adapt to the advantages and disadvantages of their environment. Like the Great White sharks at Seal Island who have learned to swim fast from the bottom and nail seals on the surface, causing the shark to breach or jump out of the water.

It funny noboy pointed out the fact that hitting or chasing a wolf with a snowmobile is illegal and they would prob sieze your sled if they caught you..................

but ya I would of run the stupid wolf over, then backed over him a few times! LOL

The moral of the story?? Always bring a gun with you while enjoying nature.:)

Unfortunately in Newfoundland, unless it is hunting season and you have a license, you can be charged with having a firearm in an area "frequented by wildlife" and treated as if you were poaching!:(

No wolves left in Newfoundland, but we now have coyotes that have wolf blood in them and are damn near as big! Haven't been chased by one of them, but did get chased by a pissed off cow moose once on my ATV.

Almost caught me as I had been tooling along the abandoned railbed when she burst out onto the trail and came for me. I found moose snot on the rear rack after I had made my escape!:p

Just a quick question, are you allowed to carry non-restricted firearms in the bush in BC without a hunting license?

As long as you have a PAL I believe so yes. At least I do when I go hiking around here, had to many run ins with pissed of moose, startling a bear or two, and watching a cougar's ass go bounding down the trail ahead of me.

Interesting, I think in Ontario if your caught with a loaded gun in the bush, there is an automatic assumption that you are hunting. I believe you have to have targets setup and be target shooting to say otherwise.
