was just reading on the excal. forum..if you have a ground blind that leaks in a bit of rain...
give the leak a rub with your string wax to seal it..:)

I rewater proof mine every second year with silicone spray,
all better after that .
Just set it up for a week or so in your back yard to remove any smell before
hunting season though.

I'm trying a small ground blind for the first time this year, since i just do not have the time to build a tree stand in my new spot like I usually do.

I seam sealed all the seams on the top of the blind the same way I would a regular camping tent hoping to prevent any leakage.

Where are your blinds leaking??? Through the material itself, or through the seams???

mines not leaking yet.......just thought id share a easy fix for small leaks when they do happen;)..
what blind you get?

Ameristep "Outhouse" is the one I purchased. I figure, how can you go wrong with a name like that :D Fits one person, and its tall enough to stand up and stretch your legs. Folds up flat in a circle shape, and you just throw it on the ground and it pretty wells pops open on its own.

I paid $35 when I was in New York state a few weeks ago, so I figure for that price, if i did not like it, I could sell it here for the same price I bought it for since they sell for around $75-$85 here.

if you have no worries of it getting stolen..set it up a few weeks ahead of the opener

:agree:...Oh, and practice folding those damn things at home first.

...nothing like trying to turn this blind into a pretzel, while reading the directions by flashlight in the dark.

Took me 15 minutes to figure it out.

Try taking it down in the open when the November windstorms roll in...:runaway:

Is it best to put these things up way before the season, as to get the deer used to seeing it, and let it get a fresh woodsy smell???? Or will it just get chewed up by the chipmunks and what not??

Put one up last year about 3 weeks before the ML hunt in December. When I got into my spot the first morning it had all but collapsed from the snow and ice. Couldn't even get in it.:D

fogducker,

Were did you get the catalytic heater for the big tank? all I've seen is the small ones for the 16oz disposable canisters. How do you like the heater? any issues with those types of heaters is smaller spaces like your blind?
