All part of the hunt to me and we shouldn't be ashamed of field dressing and butchering an animal that we have taken.
Gores got nothing to do with it. I've seen and dealt with more gore than I can remember and not all of it while hunting. I'm just thinking about protecting that precious meat and keeping it clean....but that's just me.

BTW..I was not being at all critical of Pickles. I think he did a great job (especially under the circumstannces) and said so. I doubt I could replicate it even when I was 30 or 40 years younger. I said I was a bit disappointed in one of his photos because I would have preferred to see the meat better protected. Those that think I'm wrong so be it.

Now you're expressing your opinion as I expressed mine. And I believe that, at least in part, is what the forum is about. When I have an opinion I'll be prepared to defend or explain it which I think I did here. I don't expect everyone to agree with me and I said that too. I think if that one photo was viewed by the hunting community as a whole (not to mention those that don't hunt) there would be many who do agree with me. And if I'm wrong - well it wouldn't be the first time.
And just in case anyone missed it or is too narrowly focused, I repeat again as previously posted what the rest of my opinion is...

It's tough to keep the moose clean.
All the meat was laid out over logs to cool overnight.
It was 2C when I got up the next morning.
I've got a butcher friend and he's actually refused to cut some people's moose up. Full of hair, leaves, and gravel.
I like to think I take good care of my meat.
