Only about 1 million were produced, making them comparatively uncommon. I think you were much more likely to be killed by a K98, or a PPSH in German hands!

If you are referring to the Holocaust, the German SD/Einsatzgruppen also used the Finnish Suomi submachinegun according to documents, set to single shot mode, when filling mass graves with Jews and other "undesirables." The MP38/MP40 was full auto only, making it unnecessary and wasteful for execution killings.

I think 1 million produced is hardly uncommon, Germany had 18.2 million men in all branches in uniform in ww2, considering it was issued to most platoon and squad leaders.

Approx 105,000 people were killed in Hiroshima and Nagasaki.

Is it that ridiculous to think that 1 million mp-40s caused more than 105,000 deaths?

PS: I am really playing the devils advocate here as this is def. just for arguments sake.

In a sense, ya 1 million is a lot. But compare that to the tens of millions of K98's, tens of millions of Moisins, tens of millions of Enfields, millions of stens and so on, a million looks like a pretty small number. Count in the fact that a lot were most likely destroyed after they were replaced. You have a very small number left for preservation, In Canada no less.

spoke to the guy, he still dosent want to keep it or sell it, but i found out that the property clerk will call several museums to see if they will want it rather than have it destroyed
 
He must be a liberal if he wants to destroy something that could be worth between 1k and 4k. Do me a favor and sleep with his wife, please.

My grandmother tossed my granddad's issue hi-power and his medals in the trash when he passed. That was 15 yrs ago and i still haven't really forgiven her for that.

What the f*** is wrong with people? Throwing away not only someone's personal history but depriving future family generations from proud and interesting heirlooms. Throwing someone's medals out is akin to knocking over their grave stone in my opinion. Complete disrespect.
 
And if you have ever fired one full auto, you know how incredibly awesome the experience can be:)
I hope it can be dewatted and preserved for future generations..

My grandma has her father's WW2 Italian medals lying around somewhere. I'm going to have to see if I can get a hold of em.

I aint kidding, but then again I haven't been to his house in 4 years but last time i was there they just had a gun rack hanging in there basement, and had a garand, or an enfield I cant remember, hanging above a sten. And that was sarcasm the burying part. And I guess its not the smartest Idea to post this on the internet...

The "bolt carrier handle" is on the left side on my Sturmgewehr (BD-44). The moment I saw this on MP-38 pictures, years ago, I thought: "what genius, the German Waffen designers". Now that I have handled and fired my BD-44, I much prefer it and envy the left-handed people: They have access to most semi-autos with the handle on the right (=good) side for them. The Gewehr 43 (K43) is the same: handle on the good (left) side for me. Same for FNFAL (Canadian C1) and H&K G3 (which I don't own, of course).

So a few weeks ago, when I stumbled on a CGN seller proposing a bolt carrier w/ left side handle for the CZ-858, I bought one right away. Combination of right hand holding the grip (finger outside the guard, please!) + left hand cocking the action is simplest and quickest, natürlich, ganz einfach!
