Was an awesome morning with the best shooting we have done to date. Morning started with one single , Jon hammered it at 10 yards 2 feet above the decoys! Next was another single Wynn shot backpedaling in at maybe 15 yards out tops! Then I took my turn with the 3rd bird of the day, another single at about 15 yards backpedaling in, between the fb's and silos. Next came a flock of 5 landing in the same pocket as the singles and 4 stayed(couldn't believe #5 flew away unscathed). Next in a pair at 12 o'clock high, at the sound of the call cupped their wings and dropped straight in , no circling and Wynn and Jon folded them hard at less than 15 yards out and 5 ft. up, next a flock of 6 at less than 1 foot off the ground and under 10 yards out left 5 of them belly up in the field and #6 spittin and moanin the heck out of there! Lastly a pair came in , we needed 1 to finish which I decided to hammer at the longest shot of the day and took it while it was cupped and dropping in @ 30 yards out, about 5 yards outside the fb's .Couldn't believe it, 17 birds shot at over the decoys and 15 down! It was all over and we picked up everything, loaded the truck and were gone by 8:40 while the birds poured into the field still as were leaving. Can't wait to go get them again.:shotgun:

Where did that honk come from?

All the birds worked into that small gap to the left between the two fb flocks and the silo's close to the drainage ditch at our feet except the flock of 6 which crosswinded their way in from the right betwen the silos and fb's.

They're decoys. Compare first pic and 2nd. Dude on the right is not the same dude in 2nd pic. Geese are all in same position.

Wow, lots of fake geese you have there!

What are you talking about...the bottom row second bird on the left is clearly in a different position, so is the third on the right in the top row...

So 15 birds = $3046.00. to hell with priceless, how about broke, lol

Hunters are the richest people in the world - at least, you'd think so with all the expensive equipment we buy and the cost of the food we eat!

But seriously, we really are the richest men in the world. We're more closely connected to nature and we take the time to appreciate the finer things in life - including the fundamentals of life itself.

You could say we take time to smell the coffee.:D

John,

Ya, I thought most people would get my little attempt at humour....guess I was wrong!

Sheeit, 3" or 3.5"?? We rarely get a shot beyond 30 yards with full body dekes and good calling so we shoot 2 3/4" ammo out of our skeet or Imp. Cyl chokes. I was shooting Federal Classic Steel loads I bought many years ago loaded with 1 1/8 oz #2 shot with muzzle velocity on box of 1365fps. And at those ranges and slowed down speeds as the birds are backpedaling its 6" in front of the beak and whammo.

6 bucks for three coffee's. Holy Shyte.

Must be that Tim Hortons coffee. Since the price hike, I now brew my own, and save my money for shells and decoys!:D Congrats on your hunt guys, and may you have many more just like it! I was out hunting with a few friends the other day. No geese on that trip, but after we ended up having a cold beer, and some fresh goose pepperettes made fresh the day before. That made up for not shooting any geese!:D

Absolutely correct; if you decoy them in close there's no need for even 3" magnums and tight chokes. I've got an Open Cyl A5 in 2-3/4" that slays ducks and geese with deadly efficiency when they're in the decoys.
