North Eastern Arms VZ/CZ Railed Handguard and Muzzle Brake (with pics!)

The 551 is only 4" long. I dont see why the rail wont take the 551.

The EOTECH is optimized for the M16FOW/AR15. So although it works really well on the intended application it is a bit high for most other guns. The main reason I sugges Aim points or similar optics is that they orrer you multiple mounting options. So a low ring with a COMP M2 type setup will be ideal for cheek weld.

I believe it was said its a bit high if you want to see your irons through the optic.

That too :D

I wouldn't mind slapping an aimpoint on but i'm not very fond of the big 4moa dot, that and because I can't bring myself to mount optics that are worth more than the firearm...ll

Aimpoints come with a 2 MOA option and 4 MOA, I use the 2MOA. A COMP C3 will run you about the same or less then an EOTECH, offer superior mounting options and give you far superior battery life. The Micros are a little more but they are so light and compact its hard to say no :D.

All that asside if you have an EOTECH that needs a home then by all means use it. If you are buying a new optic then I'd walk away from the EOTECH.

Good reviews but they don't really address some of the quality issues with the EOTECH.

I saw Stevo's mount at the PCFGA Gun show today.

Solves any questions I had about quality and fit. This thing has less wobble than the B&T quad rail on my SAN Carbine. Built like a tank.

Its a winner.

Did you find anything to spend your money on, sprint?

Here's pics of the new North Eastern Arms brake, posted for Charles Martel.

N.E.A Railed Handguard

I just received mine from Wolverine. A one minute install on a non-restricted CZ 858. A Solid unit with no visible faults and no wobble. I would recommend it to any users seeking a Tactical rail upper handguard solution for their CZ 858 rifle. I now am considering the N.E.A. lower handguard as well when available. A Great Canadian Product !

For those of you reading this thread who own an SKS, we will be launching a single piece hand guard in the next month. Same idea, drop in your gas piston and go with no wobble, low and ###y...................

I just need to figure out how to post pics.

I have a quick question on the North Eastern Arms VZ mount, I looked at one at Target Sports Canada that they have mounted on a rifle, it had the Burris Fast Fire on it and it looked like a nice piece of kit. When we put a Aimpoint Micro on it and tightened the screw down, we still could move the sight mounted back and forth. Is the rail spec'ed as picatinney or weaver? I will be bringing in a LaRue low mounted to see how it sits before making my purchase decision. The fit and finish is excellent and I look forward to the lower mount being made available.

Mine arrived today, very fast shipping from wolverine, ordered it wed and got it fri :) I'm not impressed, maybe it's my 858's fault but this nea rail wobbles more than the original cover, i'm not sure if I should exchange or return the rail :(

It seems that both sides have room to play,

Thickness of rear sight post : 16.5mm Space between rail arms : 17.5 mm

Thickness of the gas block : 15.6mm space between front rail arms : 16.13mm

There isn't much of a difference, the rail seems tight when it is seated without the pin but as soon as I lift it up a few mm and set the pin in, it wobbles. What is at fault, the rifle or rail?

PM sent, we will get this sorted out.

Your gun is undersized by:

On the rear - .027" undersized - Your block is .7mm (.027") thinner then Curtton's lowest measure. The 5 rifles we used for prototyping we all within a couple thou of the measurements that curtton gave.

On the front - It should not be a problem as long as the front legs are sitting in the channels on either side of the gas block.

Thanks for taking the time to measure, as charles mentioned, my rifle is probably undersized.

It's just my bad luck, I really got a lemon of a cz... scratches up bolt, scratched up mags, the bolt rail was diging into the last round and causing jams... AND NOW MY RIFLE IS UNDERSIZED!! RAAAAAAAAAAAAWR!!!!! I should have returned the damn thing when I noticed the big gouge on the bolt :(

These things happen. PM sent along with a free muzzle break.

If that isn't great customer service, I don't know what is.

Why not just tweak the rear rail ears in a bench vise to tighten them up a bit?

That will be option number three but i'd rather not stress the metal arms. I agree about one thing, customer service at it's best, I was swarmed by p.m's from charles trying to fix the problem, we will try shims and if that doesn't work, a nut and bolt should do it.

Even tho it doesn't fit my rifle, I still think this is a good product and well worth the asking price but be sure to measure your rifles before purchasing this rail because you might run into the same problem as I did.

I'll be sure to write up a review of his new muzzle brake :)
