Why are there no compact 1911's imported into Canada?

Is there not a market for compact (ccw) style 1911's in Canada? It seems to me that all a person would need would be a surplus of 4.25" or 5" standard 1911 barrels that could be cut down to the 107mm standard and then installed in these micro guns for importation up here?

Hell there's probably enough older 1911 barrels up here already, bring the guns in without barrels and we'll chop them ourselves.

I would think that if there is a substantial enough market to bring in G19's, there would be a market for compact 1911's as well. Maybe even more so.

You can already get restricted "commander" length 1911's with legal 4.25" barrels already installed. There's no real practical advantage to the compact/ccw pistols. Even in a CCW scenario, if that were possible up here, personally I'd sooner have a commander 1911 anyway.

You are starting to see a lot of these on the market now. Most of the ones that i have seen are referred to as CCO's... Not sure what it stands for... Compact Commander/Officer?

The Dan Wesson CCO is particularly ###y.. If I ever find one in Canada I'll be snapping it up for sure!

Commander slide on Officer frame is best choice. The very short 1911's use bushless barrels which won't work well lengthened.

that springfield is soooo cute! (first post pic) I don't see the point of having compacts or sub compact guns in canada. we can't carry them (legally), and it would ruin the look of the gun if you were to extend the barrel an inch to make it restricted

To the best of my knowledge, 4-4.25" is about the shortest barrel you want on a .45 to get respectable velocity and accuracy. The little 3" pistols may be cute but their accuracy beyond 10' s apparently quite deplorable. 2" is even worse.

The CCO (Concealed Carry Officers) is a nice carry size with decent accuracy and velocity. Like NAA I'd prefer a regular Commander. I wish the dealers could get regular Colt Commanders which are legal let alone ankle/pocket/purse pistols.

The original Colt CCO was a commander top end on an alloy officer's frame.

Most of the new compact 1911's use a 4" barrel, typically a cone barrel with no bushing.

I prefer the 4.25" barrel/slide, preferably with stock recoil guide/plug...no extended guide rods needed.

Les Baer's stinger, and some of the nighthawk models are true CCO configuration. The wilson compacts aren't.

I just (today) got a 1911 Compact Sig Nitron. I was thinking of getting a Nighthawk T3, but just couldn't part with $3100.

4.25" bbl (Commander Slide) and Officer's frame (7+1).

Buy a colt combat commander, steel frame, in 45acp. During training with colt commanders, it was found that they were pretty light for military applications.
