My grandfather acquired this pistol in Paris from a Free French member (along with a St. Etienne 11mm revolver) during the VE Day celebrations.

Colt 1902 Sporting .38 Automatic (serial number 9924 - making it a 1906 production)

I believe he told me it cost him four cartons of cigarettes. How this pistol made it to that point is beyond me. It sure has some history, and now I've finally got my RPAL and the transfer from the estate is in progress. I was hoping to bring it home with me this weekend but that's another story. Soon it will be the centre piece of my collection (with an M&P15-22 soon to join it).

Lovely old Colt .38ACP.....

Just don't make the mistake of shooting .38 Super in it if you ever decide to give it a test fire.... ;)

I have one a little bit younger. Still in good shape. I shot half a box of 38 Super and stopped (didn't have the choice, the gun was sometimes shooting 2 at a time). I'm now equipped for reloading to make my own 38 ACP. Can you estimate the trigger pull? Mine is incredibly heavy. Must be 10 times harder than a M&P or Glock!

Hopefully, you haven't buggered up the internals on it. Shooting .38 Super in the old Colt 1902 military & sporting and 1903 pocket hammer models meant for .38 ACP is folly. Kinda like shooting .357 Mag spec loads in a .38 Special.... it will go bang for sure, but at some point it's gonna come apart.

Very nice old pistol, and a very nice piece of history. Congratulations. Sometimes I think the site should set up a section for collectors and collectibles. And as NAA so aptly warned, absolutely do not shoot .38 Super in it.

I haven't fired it ever. Pulling the trigger is like clicking a mouse, or am I missing something here? Does loading it increase the trigger pull?

No You are not missing anything.
Shooting 38 super in one of of these is just plain stupid.
I have not handled one of these for years , but do not remember
heavy trigger. couple of thing that can cause that.
