M1A Catastrophic Failure

WOW, I've never seen anything like that before, I've seen vids of a squib going off, then another round being fired (mag blew out, barrel got a nice bulge in it), but no failure like this.
 
Interesting.


I wonder if an x-ray of the steel prior to the shooting session may have seen this as fatigued metal - and yes, I am in no way implying we should x-ray our guns every third or fourth range session. :p
