What's your home defence handgun?

NP-34 in my safe with 2 loaded mags sitting beside it. It functions 100% and I shoot it the best of all my pistols. The safe is in my bedroom closet and I can be out of bed and into the safe in a few seconds. I also have a 90lb Doberman to slow down the scum in case I mis-type the code on the safe the first time. If they get through the dog and me after 20 rounds of 9mm, then they can have whatever they want in the house.

I have a lovely selection of flowers and scented candles to greet intruders. On their way out I left a little cash for them on the dresser by the door so they can call a cab if they want.
 
Basically the "snide/silly" answers are because it is a leading question since it is not permitted to keep a firearm specifically for self-defence <ahem>

If I did keep one specifically for that purpose it would be a 10mm 1911 with 200gr JHP and custom loads in a quick access pistol safe within easy reach. :D
 
My old lady's ten foot tall, hands like anvils, breathes fire & brimstone with 8 inch fangs & a spiked tail. That's on a good day... She does like chocolate though... Anyone dumb enough to wake her up is just too stupid too live...
 
A hooded robber burst into a Toronto home and forced the homeowners to
load a sack full of jewals & cash. On his way out the door the homeowners mother in law grabbed the hood and pulled it off revealing the robber's face. The robber shot the mother-in-law without a moment's hesitation.

He then looked around the house and noticed the father-in-law

My understanding was that all restricted weapons had to be trigger locked and then locked in a storage device?
 
Not if stored within a safe or vault or secure room.

If the above pic is of a safe or vault, a triggerlock is not required.
(On the other hand, if that pic is not of a safe or vault, a secure locking device would be indicated.)

and as you said, a gun stored in a vault DOESN't need trigger locks.....here is the trick.

1-bedroom
2- mini safe
3-bedroom door locked(with a true locking device).

I live in Toronto. It's a very safe city since the police are using the Registry to get all the guns off the streets. I have nothing to worry about.

However, in the unlikely event that somebody has let their PAL expire and break into my house (aren't those the guys we have to worry about), I just grab my cell phone which I keep on standby beside my bed and press and hold 1. For you who don't know, that's speed dial for chief blair.
