Hunting Ammo for my SKS

I live in winnipeg. Went to SIR (now Cabela's) and came up dry. Got any reccomendations on where to buy this Privi Partizan stuff?

If you know anyone travelling through Red Deer, you could get them to pick some up at CT on the south end. $15.99 / box of 20.
Its darn nice stuff to shoot and non-corrosive!!!
Good luck!!:)

Don't go cheap dude! :p ;)

Well where would you happen to find "premium" .30 Russian ammo? It's not something I'd spend huge dollars on. Especially since if you find the empty, you won't get many loadings out of it. If somebody would have a commercial loading with steel case, Berdan-primed, and a partition, Ballistic Tip, or Hornady Interlock, then I'd be all over that. :)

Nice Lester's Ammo poster BTW. Hope you don't mind, I stole a copy for my collection.

I picked up some Sellier & Bellot 123gr Soft Point ammo at the Canadian Tire on Southland Dr. in Calgary a few weeks ago. Don't know if they still have any, though.

That stuff is excellent, I'm still looking for another local source to save me a 150km drive.

I'd then pull the bullets and save them for a later day, and then reload with 123grain Barnes tsx. :D

I picked up over 200 Federal brass at the McMurray range last week. I don't know who sells it but I was quite surprised to see the stuff. All of the casings showed one mark on the rim and no signs of trimming or deburring and was littered all over the pad, I suspect SKS or CZ and once fired.
S&B brass I find very thin, these Federal brass are thick.

Anyone know where people are picking up Federal 7.62X39? I'd love to buy some.

I bought 550 rounds of Wold soft point ammo at Cabelas in East Grand Forks for 19.95 back when you could bring it over the border. I still have prolbably 100 rounds. Enough for hunting for a few years.

Don't worry about it; I found it in another thread myself. ;)

If you reload, pull the bullets and replace them with the legal ones of choice. I've done this myself. Still need to load test, just have to wait for better weather.

Roger that - pull the bullets from a box, average the charges and reload the cases with a more consistent charge and a hunting bullet of like weight, then go to town on the ungulate of your choice.

As a bonus you won't worry about losing the brass...

Brilliant idea!

Got a question for 7.62 x 39 hunters.
A while back, Lever Arms sold non-corrosive, steel cased Norinco ChinaSport (green, orange and white box) ammo with "soft point" bullets that looked like regular jacketed with the tip ground off just enough to expose a little lead. I heard that some hunters used these with success meaning these "soft points" actually expanded.

Anybody with experience?
