Permanent structures will be covered by your local building regs.
In Ontario, at least, putting up a permanent structure is considered an improvement to the property and will affect your taxes. Likely requires a township/municipal building permit.

This is not what the original poster is asking about.

they call it squatting in b.c, there was just a homeless couple near kamloops that built a make shift cabin and moved in near kamloops, authoritys moved them out and all though gave them a lot of time, and no dought will remove thier shack to, if you were allowed to build anywhere whenever you wanted ,, the bush would be full of hunting cabins, wade

BC Forest Practices Act, IIRC, covers cabins and shelters. Also the destruction (decommisioning) of roads built for access to wilderness areas for purposes no longer in use, like logging, or mining exploration.

They have been actively seeking the ones out, that are on Crown Land, and destroying them. Don't get your hopes up. The logging Companies may entertain requests, but most of them own the timber but not the land it's on, and don't want visitors anyway, as it puts the product at risk.

It's been a matter of some contention, esp amongst the High Mountain sledders and skiers, as some of the shacks have been built up over years, and have become integral both as recreation and safety locations, until they were burned by the Gov't of BC.

You could call yourself "Greekguy76 Wilderness hiking, snowshoe and cross-country skiing adventure tours" then apply for a Commercial backcountry lease. Then you can put "improvements" on the land.

Look it up on this site:

Get a couple guys together. Look for an Atco trailer like they use on jobsites. There are a lot of deals for them right now. Tow it up to your hunting spot for the season and then tow it back when you are through. Most are set up for a stove and stuff and are wired for lights. All you might need is the stove, some beds and a generator. Most have windows in them and stairs are usually thrown in.
