BC Forest Practices Act, IIRC, covers cabins and shelters. Also the destruction (decommisioning) of roads built for access to wilderness areas for purposes no longer in use, like logging, or mining exploration.
They have been actively seeking the ones out, that are on Crown Land, and destroying them. Don't get your hopes up. The logging Companies may entertain requests, but most of them own the timber but not the land it's on, and don't want visitors anyway, as it puts the product at risk.
It's been a matter of some contention, esp amongst the High Mountain sledders and skiers, as some of the shacks have been built up over years, and have become integral both as recreation and safety locations, until they were burned by the Gov't of BC.
