:D

Does anyone know if any of the Canadian retail/chain stores carry the new 9 shot magazine for the Ruger Model 96/44 in .44 Remington Magnum??

I've checked shelves, catalogs, fliers ..........NOTHING ! :(

They're available in the United States but I've yet to see one advertised for sale in Canada.

You guys are wrong.

Action type doesn't matter.

That's why Pricedo can't find it in Canada.

What?

Tell me why I can go and buy a 9 round magazine for my bolt-action Savage then, and it would be completely legal?

Or what about a 10 round mag for a Lee Enfield? Hell if they existed you could buy a 75 round drum-magazine, as long as it was designed for a non-semi rifle.

The 5 round limit only applies to CENTREFIRE MAGAZINES DESIGNED FOR SEMI-AUTO/AUTO RIFLES.

The 5 shot magazine restriction applies to semi-automatic, center fire firearms ONLY.

The Ruger Model 96/44 is a lever action in .44 Remington Magnum and I could have a magazine down to my ankles & it would be quite legal.

Ruger started making the 9 shot mag this summer & I'm still looking for one for my lever action Model 96/44.

If anyone gets wind of a Canadian source please post it here..........thanx in advance.

It is better to remain silent, and be thought a fool, than to speak and remove all doubt.

You fail.
At least show him why.

From the RCMP website:
Q. What is the maximum number of cartridges that a firearm magazine can legally hold?

As set out in Criminal Code Regulations, some large-capacity magazines are prohibited regardless of the class of firearm to which the magazines are attached. As a general rule, the maximum magazine capacity is:

•5 cartridges for most magazines designed for a semi-automatic centre-fire long gun; or

•10 cartridges for most handgun magazines

A large-capacity magazine is not prohibited if it has been permanently altered so that it cannot hold more than the number of cartridges allowed by law. Acceptable ways to alter a magazine are set out in the regulations.

There is no limit to the magazine capacity for semi-automatic rim-fire long guns, or for other long guns that are not semi-automatics.

Or you can go read the law, it is not what it does say but what it doesn't:

Nope, .22's are exempt and the Lee Enfield magazine and Garand are specifically exempted by name.

Sigh......OK, I'll humour you (even though you ARE wrong)....point me to the reg. (Are my 6/7/9 shot levers specifically mentioned as well?)

On that note, I want one as well....if you find a source let me know! :D

I hope I am wrong, but that's the way it was "splained" to me.
How about we try Ed Burlew, Barrister and Solicitor, for the CSSA, with his (albeit dated) explanation?

In Canada, pursuant to three orders in council passed under the criminal code s.84 s.116, mere possession of high capacity magazines for semi automatic rifles (5 Shot maximum) and pistols (10 shot maximum) was made a criminal offense beginning July 1993.

Ummmm....it's laid out above, but here it is again anyway:
