Welcome to the club of broken ears.

Send them back I tried mine out great for handguns but anything in 7.62 you might as well use your fingers. But on the bright side they fit really well.
Shot a buck with my CZ858 tonight. I have the standard muzzle break that I got from Wolverine Supplies - if my memory serves me right. That thing is absolutely too loud. Is there an effective muzzle break out there that doesn't leave me with permanent hearing loss???? Type loudly, I can't hear a thing ...
I recall firing my old VZ58 with the factory muzzle break and yes it's ridiculous. The only thing I remember being louder was a Valtro PM5 with the ported barrel.I've since gotten way better hearing protection, but from a hunting perspective I would ditch that break!
I think that you hit the nail on the head. I was on a trail with large hills and trees on either side - essentially in a funnel for the sound, but sometimes a person has to shoot in tight spaces. I agree, when I shoot beside a buddy with a break - it is really a killer on the ears. Thinking of going to some kind of earplug that allows me to hear normal sounds, but blocks the KERBLAMO!!
You want loud Vimy Ridge...
TRY THIS ONE!

you might want to keep an eye out for a muzzle brake made by kasat (i assume he made it, i bought it from him), i never noticed a recoil increase but it did seem to be quieter than normal

whatever...
I poped two rounds off this fall with an nea muzzle break and no plugs, was a bit loud but dind't make my ears ring.
Recoil Increas? WTF? Quieter? WTF?
Muzzle breaks decrease felt recoil and muzzle movement for follow up shots. They also make your gun seem louder as they deflect the escaping gases, and noise out to the sides or up, instead of straight out the barrel.

That intense ringing sound in your ears, is the sound of frequency ranges in your hearing on the way out or dying. You will never be able to hear at those frequencies again !!!
