Best/Most effective AR compensator

How about a nice Canadian made muzzle brake. Designed and built by Canadians and sold by a Canadian company for use by Canadian shooters. It is as good as anything built anywhere else. We know that cause we tested it against the best.

CNC'd chromoly steel with mil-std phosphate coating.

This brake is $120. Is it really that much better then the YHM Phantom comp/break? The YHM's got some pretty good reviews and their only $30. Too bad their out of stock.

Effective. I guess that is a subjective term. Effective in reducing recoil/muzzle rise, or effective in reducing flash, or effective in reducing noise, or.........

Small Arms Review just did a comparison testing for flash reduction. Appears the Vortex worked the best, at least with short barreled rifles/carbines.

I don't have that much expertise with muzzle compensators, but I like what the Vortex does for the guns I've tried it on. That's cause my main concern is flash during low light engagement. I don't find the muzzle rise to be overwhelming or uncontrolable.

So I guess it's a mission dependent need.

I *hope* the KAC TT is the top dog... good thing mine is dark already so people won't know how often I shoot it.

Effective in reducing recoil/muzzle rise :)

In all seriousness though - I will be purchasing a KAC TT, but for the average guy, the PWS FC-556 is a fantastic brake. It keeps muzzle rise to an absolute minimum, especially noticed on a 10.5" barrel.

As others have said, very, very loud. And it honestly doesn't break the bank - Questar's got them at $149, which is less than I paid six months ago.

I also find the flash to be minimal with the FC-556. I cant pull the trigger on the KAC and I love spending money :)

yeah, I can see it being used for the first baffle in a can (to prevent the powder from eating away at it), but for a normal flash suppressor or muzzle brake, theres no way Inconel is worth it.

Does look cool tho :D

I have a PWS556 on a 14.5" carbine and have found it is not completely consistant from shot to shot; be it the level of muzzle rise it will reduce or the level of recoil it reduces. The ammunition used to test it was GP90, which in itself is completely consistant.....

Any thoughts?

You kind of answered your own question. A product, no matter how cheap it is, is not much good if it isn't available. Not to mention the price you quoted was for that item in the US. By the time it gets exported and resold here it will be considerably more expensive. And to my knowledge YHM is not DDTC registered and so their products can't be legally exported anyway.

YHM may claim this thing is a brake but there is nothing there to act as a brake. Simply filling in the bottom slot does not make it into a muzzle brake.

You're looking at the wrong one. Look at the 5M2 Comp/Break. That's what I used in the video a page back. I think the one you're showing is called a "break" to comply with the US regs only.

There are board sponsers that sell YHM so my guess is that they can be exported.

Chicken and the egg. Maybe because it's good is why they can't keep them is stock.

try running M193 ball or C77 [IVI] thru it .RichLPS has used my PWS when we fired the HK416 we mounted the PWS on the 416 let it fly worked as advertised

Is the KAC TT alot louder especially on 10.5 guns? Does it creating any potential cycling issues on shorties? How is it fitted, threaded on or permanent solder type?

Its up to you to decide if its worth it for you, or more ammo and training would be better.

Due to request from the US Gov we are coating the TT in a Black coating.
We figured it was more cost effective to coat all the TT's as seperating the part by a different part number and the related hassles it was easier for us to eat the cost of shipping it out for coating and keep the same price and part number.

All current TT's are made from Inconel, steel versions we have tried do not stand up in auto, or under a suppressor.

While Inconel may be overkill for most civilian users, Travis Haley has over 100k thru his, so you know your investment will last way beyond most guns (ironically Travis is shooting the SR-15E3, its opened up to over 6" @ 100m now, but the same barrel and bolt...)
