I'm considering one of these, of all the CZ clones, it seems to be the best.
 
It is. The one thing you will like about the Tanfoglio is the grip which in my view is even better than the CZ and that is saying something. Sean at Freedom Venures offers great service. A Stock 11 is the Lexus of DA/SA guns IMHO. Perfect for IPSC Production. Gun, unfortunately, weighs to much for IDPA.

I'm with canuck223 and 7.62mm

Try a STI GP6.

Different, new, cheap (armco has them for $749) and very accurate.

I did, very nice indeed.

Thanks for all the input folks, I've got some awesome ideas, and have it narrowed down to a few, I think I'm gonna end up buying a couple though.
the contenders are:
-Glock 34 or 17L
-Sig P226 Blackwater Tac
-STI GP6
-HK P30L
-Tangfolio Stock 2

Maybe an expensive one and a cheap one, in case I bring the wife. (she gets the cheaper one, although she'll be told it's the expensive one)

Did I mis something in this? Where's the CZ Shadow fit in?

After trying a bucket load of 9mm handguns when I tried the Shadow all the rest sort of faded into the distance. After a year of shooting anything I could get my hands onto this feeling has not altered a bit.

I'm actually looking at a second 9mm to join my beloved Shadow but so far I haven't found anything that is worthy while being different enough to enjoy for being different. The M&P9 is high on the list but it still doesn't make me nod my head like the Shadow did. Although after shooting a GP6 recently I'm quite taken with that option as well.

If I didn't go for the actual Shadow I'd likely be interested in either the basic SP-01 or the CZ 85b. Part of me wants to get a basic 75b but I'm afraid that I won't find it different enough from the Shadow to justify it. Mind you as a backup for my match shooting it may be worth considering but that's another story.
 
I love my Shadow but the gun is heavy and it truly was a gun built for IPSC Production. If you are considering an 85 go with the Combat model. The absence of a firing pin block does provide the potential for a much better trigger. I added a competition hammer to mine on the advice of Ken Soucie. I now have a 85 Combat that has the same trigger pull as the Shadow. Sweet! Gun is lighter and a player in IDPA SSP Division.

I mention in my earlier posts that my mother-in-law has a Shadow and that I don't dig it, although I respect the fact that it is well manufactured and reliable, it just doesn't fit me well. I fired about 400 rounds thru it after it was broken in-not for me.
 
Seeing as they have already made your short list and if you are looking at maybe buying two............I would recommend the Glock 34 and the HK P30L.

I have owned a multitude of 9mm pistols and I find the glock is what I shoot best. I also like the availablity of aftermarket parts and the fact that I can do any and all required smith work myself.

I also recently bought a HK P30L for the wife. She loves it, the interchangeable grip sizes and the fully abmi controls make it very friendly for the ladies. Plus it is and increadably soft shooter. It has the CDA/LEM trigger which I greatly prefer over any DA/SA design as it makes the pull consistant every time.

I stll prefer my glocks however. If you are considering a 34 I would also recommend you give a 17 a try as I find I shoot these as well or better than the long slide models. That is a personal preferance.

Be sure to let us know which one you choose.;)
 
The Tanfoglio is on your list but you don't like the CZ? That's an odd situation since the Tan' is a clone of the CZ and the grip feel is pretty much identical depending on which grips are screwed on to it. To me handling a Tanfoglio feels just like I'm holding and aiming my Shadow.
 
I only have the one Tanfoglio but for me at least the shooting hand goes deeper into the grip of the Tanfoglio vs. the Shadow or other CZ's. The CZ grip is perfect for me but the Tanfoglio takes it to a higher level and that is saying something. Don't ask me to choose between the two as both make outstanding products with solid reputations for reliability, durability and accuracy.

The true is if you love CZ, than you will love Tanfoglio more, if people don't like CZ, they may want a Tanfoglio instead. I handle a combat model which almost the same as a 75B but it just feel so great. Looks like drop some green is a matter of time.

This is why the Tangfolio is there but not the CZ. I don't hate the CZ, just esthetically it doesn't appeal to me. The Tangfolio basically corrects all the things I don't like. You can have the nicest driving car in the world, but if you don't like the way it looks, you won't get past that--or at least I won't.
