On the off chance that there might actually be such a thing I did a quick Google search and this was all I could find.

Is anyone familiar with these pistols? High standard in general? Availability? Or other 22 Magnum pistols? Or.....go the revolver route and buy a Ruger Single six and call it a day?

Thanks.

For pistols, you've got the Automag II, the Excel Arms Excelerator (sp?), some Volq offerings, maybe something from Magnum Research IIRC..........as well as several revolvers in .22 Mag. :yingyang:

My father bought an H&R Model 676 Convertible Revolver back in the 70's for use as "protection" when working as a hand on a ranch. It came with the .22 Magnum cylinder as well as the .22LR cylinder. If you can find one they can be picked up for pretty cheap!

I can't see a reason why anyone would want one. We can't hunt with it, and .22mag ammo is brutally expensive in Canada for anything beyond cheapo Winchester white-box.

I happen to agree. Owning a .22 handgun is all about low recoil and/or cheap ammo. Really there is no other reason to own a rimfire handgun that I can see. If you want more recoil and spend more on ammo just buy a 9mm :D

What kind of .22 LR revolvers are commonly available in Canada?
All the good looking semi's are too expensive (Beretta 87T) or have too many ftf/fte like the SIG Mosquito.

Your best bet is look for a convertible (switches from .22LR to .22WM). If you can find one an H&R like my father's model 676 can be had pretty cheap (about $300 I think).

S&W has made revolvers in .22 Magnum in the past: the Model 48 (blued) and the Model 648 (stainless).

I would have to concur on the pointlessness of .22 Magnum handguns if you can't hunt small game with them, seeing as you can reload for centrefires for less than the cost of .22 WMR ammo.
