shotgun for your M4

Why would you do this?
This is exactly how to turn a handy, lightweight rifle into a clunky awkward POS.

I think I see what you're saying here... But I don't think it would be a prohib, or even restricted. There's nothing to say you can't remove the original buttstock, and substitute something else. The AR15 would count towards the overall length, and the whole thing would over 26".

I think what you would end up with is a restricted AR15 with a non-restricted shotgun bolted to it - the shotgun technically having a overall length sufficient for non-restricted status. You would need two registration certificates and an ATT to take it to the range. As far as I know, there's nothing in the Firearms Act to say that you can't bolt two different guns together.

Somebody correct me if I'm talking sh*t here, but it seems pretty straightforward to me.

Correct. The attached rifle would count as part of the shotgun length. The rifle serves as the de-facto stock in the absence of a shotgun buttstock.

And if you mounted it to a Robinson XCR, you have a non-restricted shotgun/rifle combo.

It is easier to just sling the shotgun - imaging carrying this thing all day long.

Thats what they do in the movie we all know and love...

it works great....allthough it is bulky, but not to hard to handle.
i shoot flares, bear bangs, doorbusters, tactical buck, & all sorts of less leathal rounds out of it.
i usually sling my shotty {like greentips mentioned}. but just had the parts laying around and wanted to see if it would work....lol

Ahh, but I seem to recall Paul Howe (he was one of the Delta team leaders that day) saying in his book (leadership and training for the fight) that he had the Masterkey setup on his weapon. The intent wasn't to lug it around all day, in and out in an hour remember? ;) Still, that breed of soldier is known for being kinda fit, I'm sure he could suck it up.

Several entities still buy our Masterkey, and Big Army went with the bolt action mag fed gun pictured in the first post.

IMHO your much better off with a seperate breaching shotgun with a short barrel that you can "holster" in a pouch on the vest and retain on a 1 pt sling.

As someone with actual field experience, I can say I prefer the rifle mounted shotgun for breaching, as would most of my colleagues. Your opinion appears unfounded.

you missed that line under kevin b's name didn't you? I suspect comedy is about to ensue but before then i recommend you research before you tout your real world experience although i don't doubt you have some.
