.22 jacketed bullets!!!!!!

An answer to a question that was never worth asking. Why bother?

Oh, sorry for getting excited about something that has to do with the sport I love.

Ok, let's go with the flow here. Ya, thay probaly will suck. No point to them. Just another cheap thing there trying to sell us.

I know a custom bullet maker from the states who had enough pull many years ago to obtain primed casings from Federal (if I remember) then he proceeded to load his own jacketed stuff in them. He was and still is active in the benchrest game. I recall him saying they shot really well but were a pain for him to produce one at a time. His intrest was BR-50 (a 22 rimfire benchrest game ) still played today. Don't remember him making any great headway with the project though.

i'd rather see some ballistic tipped 22lr for rapid expansion, mainly for expansion in small critters. though again i'm sure its something that would push the price past 22lr varmint prices

Have you shot any of this ammo? How about a range report if you have or are your comments just speculation?

Yes, I am speculating, just as everone else here is. I would be interested in seeing some test reults, but I don't see what this stuff can accomplish that existing .22 ammo can't do. .22 LR ammo simply doesn't develop high enough velocities for there to be any benefit to jacketed bullets.

I see a some pretty absurd claims and not much in the way of data on the website.

Since I occasionally pull some 22lr apart to salvage I have to say there is a whole lot of room inside a 22lr case for powder-the case is usually only 1/4 full. So this is a good idea if they pack more powder in and get a respectable push for the bullet. I would buy some to try fer sure. Besides it might be fun.

Agreed. Lead bullets can be as accurate as jacketed and I fail to see exactly how it would be a huge step up. It's not as though I've had a failure to stop an enraged (pick your small game) because of bullet failure.

May have a slight durability advantage coming out of a magazine.

I'd probably try a box or two for fun.

I don't think they will get much better than 202 ft./lbs. (Stingers) out of it.

The manufacturers have been playing at this for years and years in a hotly contested market where marketing and new packaging is the big news.

Yep! I want a box! love my SR, always fun to feed it something new. there isnt even a buy option on the website? maybe there is a supplier/dealer that could import them if bunch of ppl commit to buying?

so according to website - those rounds will drop a wart-hog or whatever that things is?? i wonder if using those rounds would change the .22 carry capacities and stuff?

Have any of you ever heard of photo shop? This ad is fake and old as the hills, pops up once it a while when some unknowing web surfer comes across it and doesn't realize they have been punked!

**edit** after some checking... he does appear to have a patent for a jacketed bullet intended for use in .22LR rimfire cartridges. I still wouldn't hold by breath.

Personally, I think I can drop a Warthog with standard .22LR rounds. I can drop a large buck for instance... It's a matter of where you hit the animal.

Yup... Same here... Also I found someone that had a picture of a cut away from each of the rounds... But, Im still not sure it's for real.
