I picked up a 788 'NIB' ( estate sale ) in 308 for 500.00 shipped, nice little rifle![]()
Buying or selling?
Epp's recently sold one in .22-250 for around $399. A .243 would likely be worth a bit more. Used 788's aren't common these days. Shooters who have 'em don't want to give 'em up.
Levi. If you can get one for $150, jump on it. You'll make a sizeable profit selling it.
' levi ' I ran the vin and it came back to a manufacture date of 1974, came with the original box to boot![]()
Anyone know what a good used rifle would be worth in this caliber? Thanks
Thanks for the info, the guy is asking 300, going to fire it a couple times first then make the decision (may opt for a .270). Like I said the bolt seems sticky when cycling, not sure if a deep clean would fix this problem or not.
'eddy' the bolt on my 788 is also a little 'sticky' and mine was never fired, Im thinking they did not spend a lot of time refining these rifles![]()
With out running down to the 'room of doom' the 788 bolt is a knock off of the 9 lug system from Weatherby and the ones I have handled all seem to be a bit gritty in the cycling dept, Im leary of wasting a .98 cent tube of Crest from Fields![]()
