Any ammo coming in was ordered when the price was high.
or paid for when the dollar was low......
.....Gas was up increasing the shipping costs.
I would say you will be waiting for awhile to see any price decrease.
And don't forget Richards mother had that thing with her pancreas, She'll be o.k but they had a few extra bills. Not to mention Lisa, Richard's Wife fell and twisted her knee at their Bavarian Chalet two weeks ago. The medical bills were taken care of by the insurance company but the cost of keeping the wife two extra weeks in the Alps while she soaked in the hot tub cost a small fortune.

There is cheap .308 all the time, less than 57c a piece, and drops down to around 37c a piece right away.....

You can buy projectiles for 14.5c, brass for 20c, primers for 3.8c, and powder comes out to around 18.5c per load. Total is 56.8 per round. Not even cheap crappy Czech surplus can touch this.
Eventually, you'll swallow the Red Reloader Pill and start to reload. You'll be glad you did.

Seeing as you are a dealer I would like to know more about your 14.5 c bullets as I would like to buy some if they are decent bullets .

Ki11ercane - honestly, if you can get me .308 dia bullets for 14.5 cents I'm in the market for a few hundred. I'd prefer something I can hunt with, but for that price I'd take anything.
I think the price you are seeing above is for the projectile only. We have PRVI 308, 145gr FMJ ammo coming in some time this spring. It's probably going to be around $780-$800 a case of 1000. We also have 303 174gr FMJ, 8mm 196gr FMJ, and 30-06 150gr FMJ coming in. All loaded ammo, brass case, boxer primer, new production non corrosive.
Cheap .308 Projectiles
SFRC has Spanish 7.62 CETME CSP-3 in 112 grain. Cost per 1000 pieces is $144.99. Another guy has IMI military brass with boxer primers for 20c each, minimum order is 1000 pieces. Use IMR 4198 ($35.00 at Cabela's per pound) and Magnum Rifle primers. (however I talked to a reloader tonight at the range of 30+ years and he said large rifle primers should work fine) Hodgdon website has the load at 37 grains. (knock off 5% or 2 grains for the military brass) After all the fancy math, you come out to $560.00 per 1000 approximately. This bullet is underpowered to a 150 grain FMJBT, but you're target practicing just like your target practicing with $1.00 SA ammo and the like.
If you want cheap hunting ammo or target ammo that can be hunted with, the Bullet Barn (hxxp://www.thebulletbarn.com) has .309 sized lead cast bullets for 16.5c a piece. ($33.00 per 200) You can technically hunt with this as it's lead and soft and the Bullet Barn will advise you of the same. We should be selling the most popular projectiles they carry shortly. However I would think for your 20+ rounds of ammo you'll use in a typical hunting season you won't skimp on your bullets and spend some good money on hunting projectiles.

Interesting, I have heard the complete 100% opposite from pretty much any reloader I have talked to or information source I have read. What does your reloading manual say for 7.62X51mm loadout? None of mine have it.
My M14-305 has FTE with some factory 308. No problem with SA surplus.
I have Never seen 7.62mm Bullets for sale. Just .308 bullets.

There are lots of Norinco M14's out there that have .308 stamped on the receiver. People use military 7.62X51mm and .308 commercial ammo interchangeably with no issues. If you're panicky about it, pull out your head-spacing tool and confirm your rifle against your shot brass. I have yet to hear anyone who has head-spaced their M14 complain the spacing was too loose for .308 commercial ammo. I have personally attended the M14 clinics by Hungry, shot commercial ammo through my M14, gauged it, and it is well within tolerance. Have I shot reloads through my M14 that didn't extract, of course. You'll always have people complain certain brands of brass will not cycle in their M14's because of extraction for example. Since commercial ammo has thinner brass than military ammo, the problem arises where the round may not be as tight in the chamber as 7.62x51mm. Other than that, they are completely interchangeable.
Some reloading manuals like Speer will give you loadouts for military brass with the proper adjustments for pressure vs. case wall thickness. If they don't and you're looking at commercial .308 loadouts, back off 5-10% and work your way up. I use the 5% less from maximum load, or start at minimum load for my hand loads.
If you're reloading and are shooting match, then this issue is more prevalent.

Go onto the Milsurp Knowledge site banner and check out the difference between 308Win and 7.62x51. Basically, the 7.62x51 is loaded to slightly lower pressures and the chambers are cut slightly larger.
I doubt the difference will be noticed by anyone but hand loaders. When they go to reload brass fired out of a 7.62x51, they will have to full length re size. The other differences are negligible.
