im looking to buy a non restricted 223 semi auto. i like the caliber conversions for the XCR but i like the looks and small size of the Tavor what rifle is better made??

I look @ it like this... "Which one" is being fielded by a military that is constantly in conflict? I imagine that the trials that military rifles are put through are pretty extensive & hard core! I'm an "armchair quarterback", ie I'm not in the military & I am not @ war, so, I've left all the research/development & trials, up to them... I'm just the beneficiary of all their hard work...

That being said, TAVOR TAVOR TAVOR!!!

That should help you decide...

Cheers
Jay

Personally, I like the Tavor myself. Rather, I should say that I love my Tavor! Learning curve is pretty smooth, straightforward to shoot and it has a good weight balance. Takes all magazines (standard AR, LRAR, PMAG, etc.) Also note that it's chambered in 5.56mm. I've heard good things about the XCR, but obviously it's a heavier gun and longer (although approximately $600 cheaper).

Plus everything Jay said. :)

I've got both, but hands down, the Tavor is more enjoyable to shoot.
Better handling (less nose heavy), although a worse trigger.
Given a choice between them, the Tavor...no question!

I have an xcr, love it, but am hoping my tavor gets here asap.

The xcr is front heavy with an 18.6" hbar, and I recently upgraded to the new match trigger which is awesome.

It's my long range gopher killer, with a scope and bipod. The tavor will be my short range gopher killer.

Get both.

I am currently waiting for my XCR to arrive. I went with it over the Tavor basically because I liked the flexability of the XCR's (rails/ambidextrious/etc) over the Tavor. Also, Robinson Armament's customer service is awesome. I think both are great unrestricted rifles though.

Another point on the XCR that seems to have improved dramatically since the XCR release. Some of us early adopters were left out in the cold to find solutions to the rifle ourselves. Some of these fixes seem to have made it into the new production rifles, but no effort has been made to correct the ones already out there, which I think is a mistake on Robarm's part.

When a friend comes to me and says, I want a non restricted 223 semi, they always make a trip to TSE for a Sig. I have shot both the Tavor, and the XCR in a variety of conditions, and if I wanted non-restricted, that I was going to shoot, I'd go with a sig.

personally...i dont consider them to be equal, one is 2k and one is 3k....the 1k difference spells the difference. if i can, i would get the tavor, but since i am poor, i will settle with my xcr for now.

Actually, it's about a $600 difference ($2,400 vs. $3,000), and the Tavor comes with the Meprolight red dot (improved MOA on this model), which is easily worth $400. So in actuality they're only about $200 in price apart. If it were one or the other, I'd still get the Tavor; getting both is still a good option, too.

dont forget the swiss arms rifles, might be somthing there you like. i did just get my xcr , so far i liked what i saw and how it handled. i didnt find it as front heavy as everyone claims though, but keep in mind i didnt get to fire it before my leave was over and i had to head back on course.
