I cant decide Tavor or XCR ? help

Some people are very rude, sorry to hear about that. Even if it was a POS and a bad choice, keep your negitive BS to yourself.
I personally wouldn't have used the XCR for Tac, not because it's a bad rifle, but because it's f**kING HEAVY!

meh, i could care-a-less what people say. hence my signature.

funniest thing was there was this dude there who had a tricked out ar15. told me he'd never own my POS xcr and told me it would never out perform an ar. i shrugged. he didn't say anything after the match.

i use it cause everything on it i can manipulate without having to remove my hand from the pistol grip and it stays in my shoulder, encase i have a stoppage, which i've never had with the gun.

My XCR is very accurate. More accurate than my LMT.

I shot a Tavor once and liked it a lot. But I would go with the XCR by the slimest of margins.

i like my xcr, placed second in a service rifle match last year. At the match i had people walk up to me and tell me to my face that it was a bad choice and a POS, i shrugged.

So, where and when was this at?

I've never heard anyone complain about XCR or Tavor accuracy, the truth is all modern semis should in general terms be more accurate then most users.

I have personally seen XCRs have repeated stoppages and failures, that said I've seen SAN PE90s, ARs, 858s, Remington 700s, Remington 870s etc crap themselves too. I have yet to see a Tavor crap itself nor heard of failures (other then the first ones with soft primer ammo) in the few that are in Canada now. That said the day is young, and I'm sure somewhere somebody is screaming at their Tavor. By far my least favorite rifle to date is the C7A1, that is mostly cause I'm a lefty and in the course of running, rucking etc I bump the mag release and drop the mag (much like right handed users are now seeing with the A2) and the Elcan scope makes me puke.

The point is every gun has its list of pros and cons. Today there are about a million Tavors in some stage of production and being adapted by countries and orgs all over the world. Yes it has its flaws and application limitations just like every other human invention. I personally like the Tavor, others will contradict. I will say the XCR is an interesting though heavy rifle with potential in its design.

april, edmonton, spruce grove.

Hmmmm... 'M39a2' here on the board seems to be a pretty big supporter of the XCR and runs the Spruce Grove matches....I wouldn't think that would fly there....

In all seriousness, while I enjoy taking the the p!ss out of guys (and gals - how could I leave out XCRmonger?;)) who are in luv:p with the rifle, I would find it very poor form to seriously hack on someone or their kit on the line - regardless what they are shooting.
SR is a dwindling sport (aren't most?) in Canada, and we need to encourage everyone to come out to enjoy and shoot.:ar15:

You are welcome anytime to come down to Calgary and put it through it's paces at distance...just don't expect to place second....;):p:D

A couple of my friends have owned the Tavor and they say that they are not a very accurate gun just for that reason alone i wouldnt own one. Id take a good AR like an LMT or a Swiss arms before the Tavor any day...... oh wait i do own them both and they kick the crap out of the Tavor.

Just my opinion but i wasnt kidding about the accuarcy.

You have any pictures of targets of bench rested groups shot with the Tavor?

your right. in all aspects of your response.

that was the first competition i did in four years, because i meet more and more of those individuals everytime i shoot a competition. the sport is about having fun, not how hard you can snicker at someone when they miss a shot (i could've made that, HAHAHAHAH), or arrogantly criticize how or what thier doing wrong (your doing it all wrong, my way is better), or your equipment sucks ( i'd never buy that rifle, this one is the only way to go cause this is what the army uses). that being said constructive criticism is good to go, i enjoy having someone SHOW me a better more effecient way of doing business. ( try this, how do you like that?)

i've been competitively shooting for 15 years now, i've been to the DCRA twice. i've shot the PQRA and the ORA. i've done numerous other competitions as well. and i've been meaning to head the calgary one of these days and shoot APRA (in F class). and i've had fun. only in the last 5 years have these clowns come out that just crush my enthusiasm for competition.

So i challenge you this Beltfed, should i come down and participate in the calgary service rifle will i have fun or will i leave determined never to compete again? (based on range atmosphere) i don't care what place i make. 2nd or 99th out of 99 people. i have a wall full of plaques and awards, it's about having fun for me.

sorry for being off topic, i still like the xcr, cause it works for me :)

You'll have a good time. ;)
Seriously, most of what I write on this board is tongue in cheek.

I'd be surprised if a shooter didn't have a good time at a CSRA Service Match. And if you didn't, please tell us why. You can shoot whatever the heck you want, from an ubermagnum hunting rifle, to a just out of grease sks, to a no4, to the SPR carried by Luttrell himself, so long as you have ~120 rnds for it. The biggest hurdle at the matches is usually squading up the addicts with the new guys to help them out.

More to the topic, I shot service rifle here with an XCR more then once, and I don't remember a single person saying anything bad about it, or giving me an unwelcome look. We've also had Tavors, and just about everything else available in Canada on the line.

The F-class matches, on the other hand, have a really odd set of problem (mostly TR) guys attached to them that make me wonder. It is weird, because the remainder are very helpful.
