I wouldn't want to spend a day at the range shooting that thing! My Sharps in 50-70 is bad enough. 50 rounds @ 565gns of lead over 63gns of GOEX = a black/blue/green shoulder. This is with an 11lb rifle.

Still, I would like to give it a try maybe once......
And as for that Sharps that keeps beating you up, you know who talk to about eleviating that problem.

The top tang safety seems like a stupid idea to me, but I guess their lawyers make them do it. Could it be removed and then have the rifle function the way it is supposed to? This seems like a very nice rifle to have, may have to start saving my pennies!

The top tang safety looks better than the cross bolt safety that Winchester used on its lever guns a few years back.

You're super right. The ruination of a classic rifle is a crime but the extra light I got from the last run shot so well and felt so nice that these abominations were over looked.
