I can only re-iterate what's been posted. The FR8 makes a great "truck gun". These inexpensive rifles can be had for less than $200. Bought mine for $125 and it had an as new bore.
The flash hider is simply an HK hider as found on any G3/91/93/HK33 series of rifle, therefore it accepts an AR plastic muzzle protector to keep the dirt out. Same as the rear diopter sight, very HKish size of aperture.
Of course the HK sling, which is one of the best ever developed, can be utilized, as seen in the pic.
I found a 98 bolt and checked it with some head space gauges. So I like the turned down handle. The only cosmetic "professional" stock work needed was a bit of the wood had to be cleared under the knob. It didn't bug me to do my own "custom gunsmithing". I've seen guns that have had the issued bolt knob turned down as well. That works, I just got lucky and found the K98 bolt that fit, and was cheap.
It's fed and fired any military or commercial 7.62x51 or 308 win round I've stuck in it with acceptable fist size accuracy at 200 yds. My 4 year old son says the recoil is a bit of a push, but I don't notice anything.
It uses old FNC1 stripper clips nicely, so I keep an ex CF pouch avec 50 rounds on clips together along with the bayonet as a take everywhere with me, package. If it gets banged up/dented/scraped, a bit, I ain't going to cry.
In case of attack, I keep the bayonet handy so I can go over the top and do a charge.
