We this is just a introductory post to get some ideas about this type of a hunt. I'm not opposed to traveling down south, however if there is something in eastern Ontario/Canada, I would definitely give it close look.

I've seen some information from Texas, so a guided hunt or just teeing up with a few buds who have a contact with land works as well. I know that the Form 6 will have to be done.

Long gun, in the .308 or .223 range.

Chime in troops and let me hear about your ideas or experiences? Cheers

Well if anyone has first hand experience or knows someone who attended the "Big Tusk" preserve please detail your hunt, I'm curious to know how the hunt takes place and if the boars are released in the morning? # of acres?

I would like to see if I could make a deal with them for the 2 day event and split the $ with another guy

I would definitely consider this option?
The price is pretty steep, however if I read it correctly its for 2 or more people and for 3 boars? Maybe the idea is to "split" a hunt?

I'll be hunting a 15,000 acre ranch in south Texas at the end of the month. All inclusive for 2 javelina, unlimited hogs, unlimited coyotes, and unlimited bobcats.

I'll let you know how it was.

Not to steal the thread but I wonder why only two javelina? I have a good friend who lives in the Rio Grande valley and according to him it's shoot all you can of them little buggers as they are considered to be vermine and a real menace. He says you can't eat them , that they are horrible eating and completely covered in ticks and fleas and that they smell foul just to get close to them. He says they just shoot them and leave them. I don't know how much truth there is to some of his statements but another buddy of mine from here lived there for a while and he says our friend isnt lying.

Has anyone been to Alta Mira? It's only a couple hours from me. It says they have a wild boar special for $350 on their website.... I don't get how it works though, says a minimum of 5 hunters. Does that mean 5 times $350 and we all get a boar?? Also, do they dress it for you too?

I can't speak for the other place in Quebec, but isn't high fence hunting banned in Ontario a few years ago?

Are we talking about hunting in open land in Ontario? Is this big tusks place legal?

The way i read it is 350 if you have 5 guys and more if you have less than 5
eg.say 3 guys would be 500 each. They say they'll field dress it,but you'll have pay more to have it butcherd(sp). Then you would have to pay for a place to stay.I would say 1000 total per person??So 350 buys you the boar then start spending more money.

Well I'm no CO, but given the fact that the "boar" is not a native species, I suspect that its not covered under the fish&game act. I'm 'sure a CO can articulate that for us. That said I believe it is legal since it appears to fall under the model of a "game preserve".

High-fence "hunting" was banned in Ontario on April 30, 2005...there was a wild boar, fallow deer operation here, that was forced to shut down.
